Publisher's summary

They survived the collapse, but can they survive the aftermath?

Morgan Carter has weathered the weeks after the collapse of the nation's power grid, reuniting with his family and ensuring their safety, but his struggle isn't over yet. Carter must focus on survival in an increasingly unstable society - but the challenges he faces are beyond his wildest imagination.

Meanwhile, the enclosed quarters of the nearby government-run refugee camp make for an environment where injury, assault and murder are the norm. As Jess creates trouble within the camp, Sarge and his crew plot to take down the entire establishment.

From the author of the hit Survivalist series books, Forsaking Home is an action-packed adventure that depicts the harrowing possibilities of a world gone awry, and the courage it takes to protect what matters most.

Boring. Should be titled “Campfire Talk with Children and Coffee”

The previous books were good. This one sucks. Hours of BORING interactions at the group’s new campsite. I began hoping the group would mostly die all of a sudden so the mundane conversations would cease. Very boring. Booooooo!!!!

MC Went From Survivalist To A Reactionist

I really enjoyed this series up until now. The issues started in the last book but really begin to pile up in this one.

The First 2 Books in this series proved how capable and ruthless our MC would be to protect himself and those he cares about. However the MC seems to be asking for his family to die or worse with his complacent attitude. His friends are constantly killed in ambushes because they let their gaurd down. Shooting the Shit... as the book says they do. Seems that they are spending too much time on Shooting the Shit and on coddling the MC's Family to properly protect themselves and stockpile food and other necessaries. By the end of this book the group is not even thinking it through to move back home away from the woods where the food is clearly plentiful. And not once does anyone wonder if it is a good idea. Not even taking into account that their home neighborhood is indefensible by most post apocalyptic standards.

There were many other things I disliked but suffice it to say that I will not likely continue this series.

Book 4 upscales

First, I own all ten books in this series (so far, 11 on the way) so while I may be critical of A. American's start, the author improves greatly as he goes along. I originally "read" these books in book format and about a year ago, decided to pick the first up in audio format for a long road trip. Excellent choice on my part. My recollection of his writing style was spot on and it started sophomorically but has improved over the book series. Don't get me wrong, Chris Weatherman is knowledgeable and it shows. I happened to be traveling with friends and several started the series after our several-day road trip. Something I noted early on and my friends agreed on it, it prompts you to think about the various everyday life things and conveniences we take for granted. While I have always found his books entertaining, my friends found them educational as well. As a prior military man, I read some of these negative reviews and shook my head. As a veteran, you just "get it." Apparently, our humor is not everyone's tea but clearly, enough people find his books entertaining to keep him in business and on best sellers lists.

Wow!

I have come to love the characters in this series. This particular book was fast paced. I found myself very worried for Jess, Fred, and Mary. Excellent story! Looking forward to the next book!

Ridiculous and entirely unrealistic

Written by a retarded fifth grader. Zero imagination and the most use of the dialogue word said I've ever experienced since grade three. An abysmal attempt to portray life post emp I've ever come across in my life. The narrator is also dry, monotone, and unimaginative. It's a royal failure and an embarrassment to the publishing company but especially the editor who allowed this to be published in its obviously raw and sad state.

Forsaking Home by A. American

I've read several of A. American's books in this series and the ending of this 1 was the bigges let down of them all. And too many characters to keep straight. Did not enjoy this book.
