From bestselling author, Rose Pressey, comes Forever Charmed, the first book in an all new series!

Halloween LaVeau is descended from a long line of witches. Yes, her name is Halloween. The cosmic universe is definitely playing some kind of sick joke on her. She's the ultimate witch cliche, complete with a black cat and spooky house. Thank heavens she's missing the warts and flying broom.

When Halloween inherits her great aunt's manor, she decides to put the house to good use as a bed and breakfast. Her first guest is the sinfully good-looking Nicolas Marcos, but he's not here for the continental breakfast. Halloween discovers a ratty old book in the attic. It's written in an unfamiliar language.

Halloween soon learns this is not an ordinary spellbook. The tome brings her a new talent, but her new skills come with a catch. When a rival witch comes after the book, Halloween doesn't know who to trust - the sexy vampire who says he wants to save the day, or the warlock who says he can destroy the book once and for all.

This book is cute. Cozy mystery about a girl named Halloween who inherits a huge house and turns it into a bed-and-breakfast. But it comes with its own set of surprises including cute guys, demons, and a crazy witch after her powers! Super fun read that ends in a definite there will be another book to the series ending.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Saskia Maarleveld should never do another book!! Worst performance I have ever heard and have multiple audio books. Made it very hard to listen to this book! The story was a little bit more for teenagers then adults but was ok even if sometimes you want to say to the main character "come on!" If Rose Pressey continues this series, I might continue it if nothing else catches my interest as long as they get a different performer.

Terrible narrator

I love Rose press books!!

The story was ok, not one of her best, but the narration was very, very annoying. It sounded like she was ending every sentence with uh... skipped ahead to end of book half way through, just so I'd stop grinding my teeth listening to the uh..

Not Impressed

The author has created a world where witches are commonly found living peacefully in society alongside plain old non-magical humans. The lead character is a magically-challenged witch whose best friend is a human. Overall, the story moves along with the feeling of a cosey mystery told with a light, humorous touch.

The narrator is very good; however, she has a very unusual voice that imprints itself so heavily upon the story that it is almost as though it was another character altogether. It is not exactly offensive, but at times I felt that it made listening to the story a bit ponderous, as if one were proceeding through molasses.

Overall, I think that this series is off to a nice, if slow, start. I must admit that it hasn't grabbed me in the same way that many other series (e.g. like those of Karen Chance, Kelly Armstrong, or Kim Harrison) have. Nonetheless, I think it is at least worth giving the next couple of books in the series a try. Finally, I think the series would be fine for young adults, but I'm not sure that it would appeal to them, especially given its slow pacing and that it is geared towards an adult audience.

An unusual start for a series, but in a good way.
