Best-selling novelist Piers Anthony creates fresh, original takes on age-old themes like love and death. In For the Love of Evil, he adds a delightful new chapter to a series that has captivated millions.
Don't miss the other books in the Incarnations of Immortality series.

"Fleeing persecution by the Church, a young sorcerer in medieval France seeks refuge among the Franciscans, dedicating his life to the triumph of good over evil until a strange twist of fate forces him to assume the role of his greatest enemy and take his place among the immortal Incarnations. In his most ambitious work yet, Anthony tackles sensitive moral issues with his customary high spirits." (Library Journal)
Well, if you have read the other 5 books in the series I probably don't need to say anything for you to want to get this book. One observation though, the story starts at around 1200 AD. I really would love to get into a debate about this book but anything I say would probably be a spoiler so I will refrain. Not the best in the series but definitely a 5 star by any reference. Another plus is that the narration is very well done (imho) and the audio quality is (thankfully) very good.
I like scifi and urban fantasy. I don't like romance novels. If you are the same my reviews should help.
This book is the best in the series in my opinion. The story is tighter and the characters are much better developed. the best part is this is the novel that ties all the other books together. that makes it really interesting to see what was going on from the person seen as the enemy for the series to date.
For an agnostic man, Piers sure can get into some detail about God and Satan. Somewhere during the middle I noticed a bit of "Dante's inferno". After listening to the first 5 and really disliking Satan, my opinion of him changed when you get to see things from his point of view. Oh call me a heratic, but I find myself sympathizing with this poor character. As always, very well written. Still not crazy bout the narrator although she did a better job in this one than book 5. Maybe because she did not have to do any fairy or nymph voices in this one.
I know this is the 6th book in a 7 book series, but it ties the entire series together so nicely. It really does a great job of revealing Satan's motives. It also answers the question Satan must come to terms with: Does The Incarnation of Evil evoke the evil in men's souls, or does it just punish it? I think this one is the best out of the whole series. Word of advice, read the other 6 books first.
I had reservations, even superstitious fear about reading this book but, having read Screwtape Letters multiple times, I figured, "Oh what the Hell. Writing a book with sympathy for the Devil was difficult for C.S. Lewis, let's see how Piers Anthony does it with Satan." It was delightful. I even got a little weepy at the end for the guy, and I cheered for him throughout the story. Piers Anthony puts so much thought into each and every character, their motivations and triumphs, that one cannot help but love and admire his work. I've read his books on the incarnations of Death and Time, and this one was just as good or better. The blasphemous themes were less than I expected, even minimal; if I was offended by anything, I trust it will be corrected in the next books as resulting from the characters' misunderstanding of God, Heaven, Holiness, and Faith.
Yes with my eyes going as I get older the audio books bring my back the stories I can't read any more.
Who else but Perry too many whys to list. Give it a listen you'll see why. Also Jolie is a perfect love interest.
Her inflection and character voices bring the story to life even better than when I read it the first five times.
Jolies death and Perrys rise as the evil incarnation.
Read this and any Piers Anthony you can get your hands on! He's punny, intelligent, and a wordsmith like no other this or last decade.
This Series is by far one of the best Piers has ever concocted. The way the entire series ties together....I am lost in these books!
You wont believe the ending!!
Enlightening, fascinating, brilliant
I loved that this story brought together all of the other books in the series. Perspective is everything.
The narrator's performance was clean and the characters came to life.
When the main character revealed his love.
top 10 of my entire library this book really pulled it all together
one and it was good as well
when satan retakes his office
