Publisher's summary

Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden is Chicago's only openly practicing wizard. He is also dead broke. His vast knowledge and magical skills are unfortunately matched by his talent for making powerful enemies and alienating friends. With little more than his integrity left, he accepts an offer of work from Lt. Karin Murphy of Chicago's Special Investigations Unit. He wants to redeem himself in Murphy's eyes and make enough money to quiet his rumbling stomach.

Soon he finds himself pinned between trigger-happy FBI agents, shape-shifiting motorcycle gang members, a threatened mobster boss, and an heir to an ancient curse along with his primal fiance. Throw in environmental activists and a pair of young werewolves in love and you have something of Fool Moon.

Narrator needs to move his mic

I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next. The story was very intriguing. If you like books from Anita Blake and the like you'll enjoy this.

My only issue with this performance (and the performance is the first book) is the constant sighing, deep breathes, swallowing, and generally gross mouth noises from James Marsters. I really hope all the performances in the audiobooks of the Dresden files are not like this

Even better than the first book!

While this book could be a stand alone book, I highly recommend you start with book one in the series. The background laid out there will aid in understanding the story here.

First of all, you have to have a pretty open and lively imagination to read books of this genre. If you don't, this book will be too weird for you. If, however, books like Harry Potter entertained you, then this series should appeal to you.

The first book introduced us to Dresden and his abilities. In this second book, Dresden comes to life more and the interactions with other characters from the first novel expanded upon. The bad guys, as always, are very entertaining as well, and they are a large part of Dresden stories. As well, not all monsters are monsters, and the lines between good and evil are, in Dresden's world, blurred. This makes for some good sub-stories.

James Marsters does an excellent job again, and it seems the production and recording issues of the first audio-book have been cleaned up.

So, if you're looking for some light entertainment in a world with magic, then this should appeal to you.

Another fantastic performance by Marsters

It's the Dresden files narrated by Marsters, what's not to love? I've been a fan of the series since the first book went to print, but it took more than a decade for me to finally give the audiobooks a try. Marsters does not disappoint; his voice is synonymous with Harry Dresden.

love this series

One of my favorite series. What you think you know about werewolves isn't.

Read by an actor so talented that if you thought he was English, he wasn't.

An Excellent Reading of Fool Moon

I've only just recently gotten into the Dresden Files series, but ever since I read Storm Front, I was completely hooked. At the risk of sounding poorly-read, The Dresden Files is a lot like Harry Potter if it took place in a darker, grittier 20th century. Everything is darker and more serious, and rather than a singular villain who's evil just because that's how he is, everything is out to get Harry Dresden, a guy with no grander ambitions than paying the rent on time.
As I'm sure you can guess by the cover, this book is about werewolves, lots of different kinds of werewolves. As a result, the book can get a bit campy, but I think that's intentional, and even Dresden seems aware of the ironic corniness of some of the situations he finds himself in, dancing right up to the fourth wall in the process. I won't spoil the plot any, but I absolutely recommend this book.
Also I feel like a bit of an idiot, but I finally figured out who James Marsters (the narrator) is. He played Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, among other characters in various science fiction and fantasy television shows. His performance here is just as excellent as it was in Storm Front. Perhaps it's just because the story is told in the first person, but you get the feeling that Marsters is really getting into the role, that he feels like he IS Harry Dresden.

The fun continues

Book two continues the story of Harry. Splash of werewolves, feds, and others. The story is good, the performance is great, and can’t wait until the next book.

Good read.

To post "good read", I was strangely required to add these 15 meaningless words.

GOOD BOOK!

Finally a warewolf novel about warewolves! It's hard to find good monster novels. Everything today is sexy rich or well to do people having sex. The monster is just garnish on an otherwise romance novel. This is a great book for someone who likes warewolves!
