Editorial reviews

This audiobook contains two fanciful science fiction short stories by Vonda N. McIntyre, "Wings" and "The Mountains of Sunset, the Mountains of Dawn". McIntyre describes an alien world in sumptuous vivid detail. Describing the biology of its furry, winged, humanoid inhabitants and a pair of connections between lonely aliens from different generations left behind on the dying planet. Maxwell Glick performs these resonant tales with vigor and enjoyment. This audiobook is mournful and sensual, a romantic portrait of a fantastic planet for any sci-fi or fantasy fan to enjoy.

Somehow incomplete, maybe it's just the poor readi

What did you like best about Flyers? What did you like least?

It introduces a new species and alien way of thinking.

If you’ve listened to books by Vonda N. McIntyre before, how does this one compare?

N/a

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator didn't do this book justice at all. This is the first time I have hated the narration. The emotions and inflections don't fit at all.

Was Flyers worth the listening time?

No. I would read the story.

Any additional comments?

The story needs glue. It is disconnected and could use fleshing out. Is this an excerpt? That is the only thing that makes sense. The narration didn't help.
