Publisher's summary

Terry Goodkind, author of the enormously popular Sword of Truth novels, has forged perhaps his best yet, pitting Richard Rahl and Kahlan Amnell against threats to the freedom of the world. They both must struggle at opposite ends of the earth against the relentless, monolithic forces of the Imperial Order.

A Sister of the Dark captures Richard and takes him deep into the Old World, to the very heart of the Order, while his beloved Kahlan remains behind. Free because of Richard's sacrifice for her, but unwilling to abandon the cause of the Midlands, Kahlan violates not only prophecy but her last pledge to Richard, and raises an army against the advancing horde of the Imperial Order. Separated and fighting for their lives, Richard and Kahlan will be pushed to the limits of their endurance and tested in their love for one another.

Once again, the master storyteller weaves a riveting spell that will captivate even more fans for this incredible series.

Epic edge: listen to more in the Sword of Truth series.

Critic reviews

"Notable for its engaging secondary characters, the novel also evinces flashes of sly wit....Goodkind's ingenious world-building will keep readers captivated." ( Publishers Weekly)
"Kenneth's narration follows the intensity of the plot through battles and hardship, as well as dreams of love and caring human relationships. With Kenneth as guide, this book never lags." ( AudioFile)

Finally the series is getting better!

I've been waiting for this series to actually get better instead of the non stop whammy's that keep happening to the good guys. Finally this story gets better in this book, here's hoping this continues and the good guys actually have some hope moving forward.

enjoyable read

I really enjoyed this book and is a good addition to this series. The only problem is that so far there's been like four different voice actors who have read the stories. I wish they would choose one and stick with them so the characters voices are consistent.

I am still in love with this series.

The portion of the Sword of Truth adventure that Faith of the Fallen covers is quite a ride. Truly pivotal in the overall story arc, and a fun window into alternative lifestyles.

This Book is the Best

I don't condone the torture and abuse, but this book was written in a different era. Besides that fact, I have read and listened to this series four to five times, but it has been at least a decade since I have last heard this book. It is my favorite storyline and the one book I remembered out of the series to the point I thought it belonged to another series. I think John Kenneth is the best narrator. His reading is smooth and his characters distinct.

I loved the story but it really bothers me that they change narrators for each book.

My favorite of the series!

I love this book and the lessons of Freedom that Richard and Kahlan teach especially against the order and their minions. I feel like there's actually application here that we can put in our own lives to Live Free Like Richard. rise up and live life!

Another Good Read

I'm still enjoying Terry's writing with this book. I still enjoy the descriptive explanations of the surroundings and characters' thinking, but that is my preference. In some other books I've read the writers are very bland when it comes to describing the thoughts and feelings of the characters which basically leaves me not caring about anything that happens to anyone in their book. Thankfully that is not the case with this series.

I also enjoyed the narrator versus some of the previous ones. My only red mark is how he portrayed the wizard Zed. I felt the writer envisioned him to be a wise yet very quirky old wizard that likes playing ignorant at times for his own amusement. One or two of the previous narrators caught this perfectly in the voice they depicted for Zed. However, I felt this narrator just made him sound like a plain old man.
