Publisher's summary

Patricia Briggs' Alpha and Omega series - set in a world of shifting shapes, loyalty, and passion - brings werewolves out of the darkness and into a society in which fear and prejudice could make the hunters prey....

They say opposites attract. And in the case of werewolves Anna Latham and Charles Cornick, they mate. The son - and enforcer - of the leader of the North American werewolves, Charles is a dominant alpha, while Anna, an omega, has the rare ability to calm others of her kind.

Now that the werewolves have revealed themselves to humans, they can't afford any bad publicity. Infractions that could have been overlooked in the past must now be punished, and the strain of doing his father's dirty work is taking a toll on Charles.

Nevertheless, Charles and Anna are sent to Boston when the FBI requests the pack's help on a local serial killer case. They quickly realize that not only the last two victims were werewolves - all of them were. Someone is targeting their kind. And now Anna and Charles have put themselves right in the killer's sights....

Another good book

This is another good book in this series. In general, the Alpha and Omega series by Patricia Briggs are somewhat darker than the Mercy Thompson books -- the other series set in this universe -- though there are exceptions. I don't usually like romance, but the plot is still good. The ending was at least partially predictable in this book, but it was still a good story, and it had some very likeable new characters, in addition to other likeable characters who appear throughout the series.

Excellent series

While this is the 3rd or 4th book in the Alpha Omega series it can be enjoyed as a stand alone book. It takes the series in a new direction. It also makes you anxious for the next installment of the Alpha Omega series. The narrator does nice job of distinguishing the characters vocally.

well worth it.

This is one of my favorite books by Patricia Briggs it truly shows a sense of justice and how one should never think they can get away with harming a child

Best of the Best

Would you listen to Fair Game again? Why?

I normally don't write reviews but I have been waiting patiently for this book and I must say it does NOT disappoint! Without a doubt this is the best of the Mercy Thompson world novels. I will be certainly listening to this one over and over right along with Moon Called, Silver Borne and River Marked. The story keeps you engaged from start to finish. The interaction between Anna and Charles is great showing the vulnerability of Charles and the strength of Anna better than any of the previous books. The plot is a great detective story complete with good cops, bad cops and questionable government agencies. The Fae are shown in a different light and WOW what a cliff hanger ending!! The only negative thing I can say is now we have to wait a year until the next book. :-(

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite characters are always Anna and Charles, but I think Issac is certainly a standout supporting character. I really hope to be able to see more of him in the future. He's young and flamboyant on the outside, but when the Sh$$ hits the fan he is stable, strong and loyal. Very cool dude.

Have you listened to any of Holter Graham’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Holter Graham's narrative is superb. As always he does a great job of giving each character a voice of their own and uses inflections to convey the emotions and excitement perfectly throughout the entire book. One of the most important part with the narrative is that there are NO swallowing, breathing or gulping sounds during the reading like i have found on other audio-books.

Any additional comments?

Patricia Briggs please write faster! Another year before the next Mercy Thompson is going to drive me nutty.

A great read.

As usual, I had a difficult time putting the book down. story, performance, and characters pulled me into every chapter, page, and paragraph.

Just as good!

Storyline just as good as all of the rest of the books. Did drag a little, but finished off just as great!

Charles and Anna take on Boston.

What did you like best about this story?

ZOMG! I love this series so much! It was interesting seeing the consequences of the werewolves coming out from a different perspective than Mercy's. And this book takes place in BOSTON and the plot drew me in immediately and didn't let me go. I seriously listened to this audiobook in one sitting, it was so good!

I think I've said this every review but I freaking love Charles and Anna. Their relationship is so interesting and cute, but not perfect.

I can't wait to get my hands on the next book. I'm a bit sad that I'm almost caught up on this series. I NEED MORE BOOKS WITH CHARLES AND ANNA!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did listen to it in one sitting.

another thrilling drama with interigue

Anna and Charles are once again tossed into circumstances they did not expect. As Anna works to save Charles from falling into the monster he sees himself....they both end up working to find the middle ground that will allow Charles to maintain his humanity.
once again, Anna saves Charles through the wit and courage that life has given her. Charles ends up finding a small balence in himself while others around him deal with loss and tradgedy. definitely a great read

I love this universe!!

If you could sum up Fair Game in three words, what would they be?

superb urban fantasy

Who was your favorite character and why?

Always Charles and Anna, but Isaac became a real person to me. And I love watching the unfolding story of the Moor! Each book is terrific and extends the reach of the original series. Can't wait for the next book. Ok, I can wait, but I don't want to.

What does Holter Graham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I find his slightly nasal voice a distraction sometimes. Not enough to put me off, but enough that I am sometimes pulled out of the story. Also, I often disagree with some of his pronunciation of names. Beauclaire, in my opinion, is BOW CLAIR, not boclar.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Neither laugh nor cry, but I have "read" it several times already and will continue to do so. I find the culture of werewolves has evolved here to be more than just monsters but instead are complex, three-dimensional characters with rules, laws, taboos, etc.
