Publisher's summary

Patricia Briggs' Alpha and Omega series - set in a world of shifting shapes, loyalty, and passion - brings werewolves out of the darkness and into a society in which fear and prejudice could make the hunters prey....

They say opposites attract. And in the case of werewolves Anna Latham and Charles Cornick, they mate. The son - and enforcer - of the leader of the North American werewolves, Charles is a dominant alpha, while Anna, an omega, has the rare ability to calm others of her kind.

Now that the werewolves have revealed themselves to humans, they can't afford any bad publicity. Infractions that could have been overlooked in the past must now be punished, and the strain of doing his father's dirty work is taking a toll on Charles.

Nevertheless, Charles and Anna are sent to Boston when the FBI requests the pack's help on a local serial killer case. They quickly realize that not only the last two victims were werewolves - all of them were. Someone is targeting their kind. And now Anna and Charles have put themselves right in the killer's sights....

Saving

Charles is being plagued by the ghosts of those he killed. To help his issue, his father send Charles and Anna to work with the FBI on a serial killer case. It does help but the case is stranger than anyone knows with ties to werewolves and Fae in this exciting tale.

Another amazing story from Patricia Briggs!

Stiil can't get enough of Anna & Charles! I am going to be really sad when I've finished reading the entire series! Worth every penny or credit that you have!

Gets better and better

I’m always impressed with Patty’s ability to build her characters and have them evolve with every new experience, trial, or failure. This book is a testament to that. Anna continues to learn and grow from her past traumas and Charles is doing the same. Also, I enjoy the look into Bran that this series allows the reader, he is very interesting indeed. Love this book.

The best book in this series to date

I've read and loved the Mercy Thompson books from the beginning. So I was glad when she started a new series with many of the same characters. But I didn't actually like the first couple of books all that well. However, in this book, the story was every bit as good as any in Mercy's series. I particularly liked the ending.

Awesome Story and Performance!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely, I love this series! Briggs has done an outstanding job creating such a captivating and unique world of werewolves, fae and other supernaturals. Each story adds another layer to this world.

Have you listened to any of Holter Graham’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes! Holter Graham does an awesome job narrating this series. He really knows how to deliver on the gruff alpha/dominate voice.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No extreme reaction; however, I really enjoyed this plot. It was intense and had me clued to my headphones.

Any additional comments?

This was another awesome addition to the series and compliments the Mercy Thompson series nicely.

Yes!!!

There are a handful of narrators who make the audiobook so much better. In this case, Holter Graham did an awesome job. You could distinguish between all of his characters and he brought just the right tone of voice to each of the characters as the situation dictated. Briggs had me riveted from the beginning until the end and I can't wait for the next in the series to see what comes of everything that happened in this book. A great listen for sure.

A Rare 5 Star Hat Trick

If you like dark werewolf tales told in a darkly sexy voice, I urge you to start at the beginning with Briggs’ Alpha and Omega series. In this third book alpha dominant Charles Cornick and Anna Latham, newly mated and settling in with Charles’ pack on a Montana mountain, find their uneasy relationship tested anew.

As a rare omega wolf, Anna is highly prized for her ability to empathize with and calm her kind. She is the only one who sees that Charles is severely distressed over over his work as enforcer and executioner and that he’s trying to spare Anna his agony by shutting down his end of the mating bond. Holter Graham clearly conveys Charles’ imposing size and forbidding demeanor, and he adds a deliciously deliberate I’m-just-a-big-dumb-guy flavor while Charles has too much fun standing behind Anna pretending to be a clueless hunk of muscled bodyguard. Kudos to Briggs for forward movement in the story arc and for satisfying, organic growth in the series regulars -- and applause to Graham for getting it.

Holter Graham is a talented narrator who makes it sound easy. He employs an easily recognizable voice for each character and he is sublimely comfortable with the material. Graham’s mastery proves the importance of casting the right narrator for an entire series. A goodly number of parts are in play and Graham never misses a beat. Amazing!

An absolutely spectacular denouement caps off the story and it’s so cool that I’m not even going to hint at what happens. Graham’s intuitive delivery adds to the jaw-dropping surprise. Don’t miss this one!

narration

there were some odd moments that sounded like recording or something on the narration and it was disturbing to the experience of the story. the narrator was good but the broken/rerecorded pieces were awful.
