Stealth. Gorgon. Regenerator. Cerberus. Zzzap. The Mighty Dragon. They were heroes. Vigilantes. Crusaders for justice, using their superhuman abilites to make Los Angeles a better place. Then the plague of living death spread around the globe. Despite the best efforts of the superheroes, the police, and the military, the hungry corpses rose up and overwhelmed the country. Now, a year later, the Mighty Dragon and his companions must overcome their differences and recover from their own scars to protect the thousands of survivors sheltered in their film studio-turned-fortress, the Mount. The heroes lead teams out to scavenge supplies, keep the peace within the walls of their home, and try to be the symbols the survivors so desperately need. For while the ex-humans walk the streets night and day, they are not the only threat left in the world, and the people of the Mount are not the only survivors left in Los Angeles. Across the city, another group has grown and gained power. And they are not heroes.

Interesting concept

Would you listen to Ex-Heroes again? Why?

The idea of living in the life of a super hero during the zombi apocalypse is a intriguing plot device.

It's been done before DC/MARVEL etc but I like the overall tone and character building of the book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Ex-Heroes?

Without giving the story away I enjoyed the back stories of the Ex-Heroes both living and Ex living

I enjoyed both voice actors and will ensure to listen to more books with them in it.

I thought it was fun and easy story. Felt like i was listening to a play

St. George- he was pretty cool

I would explain the heroes and change the before and now's to fit.

I likes St George. He had plenty of values and was not about to change any of his principles for the situation

I found the characters were not explained enough. A meir mention of them and there abilities from time to time was confusing. This part and jumping back and forth also muttled the story for me. All in all, it came together well. I was not expecting the story to end with this one battle. I felt that it should have gone on beyond the last chapter. Without giving anything away, I won't go into any moor details.

fun story

awesome story really fun but be on your toes it gets crazy, but maintains lots of excitement

zombies with a twist

Clines did a good job on making the zombies unique. Glad I had chanced this book and looking forward to the next.

I enjoyed it

I thought the narration sand story were excellent. I had never read anything with zombies before so my expectations were pretty low but it was good. Short and light.

Ok

I was pretty entertained by this book, enough so that I just got the rest of the series. It was a little less impressive for me than "14" and The Fold" but it was still really good I liked the way he introduced the heroes. The narration was good too. I liked having two voices.

What did you love best about Ex-Heroes?

This became buried in my audible library,I forgot I had it. And when I re-found it, thought, WHY? Why did I buy this? But, decided to listen to it and get it out of the way! I LOVED IT! I love zombie movies and Walking Dead. But wasn't quite sold on zombie books! (Again! I forget why I bought it in the first place). But I loved it, plus with the addition of gifted people, people with superpowers, and then at the end, the COMPLETELY AWESOME SURPRISE TWIST! F*UCK YAH! And some of the "gifted" zombies. Makes for a super fun book. I would probably listen again, down the road.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Ex-Heroes?

The surprise twist near the end, I WANT TO SPOIL IT SO BAD! But I won't, because it was amazing, and it was a sneaky twist, even leading up to it, I was blissfully unaware till the last second! AMAZE-BALLS!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

ZOMBIES, SUPERHEROES, SUPERHERO ZOMBIES, OH MY!

Enjoyed the story, pacing and narration. I recommend the book highly. Interested in more of Clines books

Worth Every Penny

The voice acting was great, the world building was phenomenal, and it left me wanting more.

Without giving too much away, the idea of a bunch of supers fighting zombies in LA was great. Interesting twist on a crowded genre. It really stands out from the other zombie books and is pretty great. Highly recommended!
