"All of us try to cheat death. I was just better prepared to do it than most folks."In the years since the wave of living death swept the globe, St George and his fellow heroes haven't just kept Los Angeles' last humans alive - they've created a real community, a bustling town that's spreading beyond its original walls and swelling with new refugees. But now one of the heroes, perhaps the most powerful among them, seems to be losing his mind. The implacable enemy known as Legion has found terrifying new ways of using zombies as pawns in his attacks. And outside the Mount, something ancient and monstrous is hell-bent on revenge. As Peter Clines weaves these elements together in yet another masterful, shocking climax, St. George, Stealth, Captain Freedom, and the rest of the heroes find that even in a city overrun by millions of ex-humans... there's more than one way to come back from the dead.

    "The series is great fun"

Peter Clines is a great story teller and this story is no exception. The Heroes are all very cool especially Corpse Girl and Captain Freedom. I hoped that Capt Freedom adopted Corpse girl it seemed the perfect out come.Im starting to like the Rodney character for some reason hope he get more page time in the next one....Zap is funny and Stealth is her usual all knowing self but drops a little more of her mystery in this one.Yip get it just for Capt Freedoms voice if not for the great story.

    "Another great story..."

Ever since I stumbled upon Ex-Heros I have loved the world that Peter Clines created. He takes al of the troops of Superheros, turns them on their heads, and then throws zombies in for good measure. The result? Awesomeness!
Ex-Communication continued the story left off in Ex-Patoriate by continuing the struggle with Legion and with the super soldiers joining the mount, and by introducing a new threat based on an older character. The story is fast and the characters convincing, I just wish there was more.
I hope that Clines explores more of the outside world in later books, since it seems that there are many other possible stories outside of the mount.

    "One complaint. Too short!"

First of all, thank you for bringing Jay Snyder back. Great narrator.

This was a great book full of a couple twists that will really entertain the EX books fans. One i totally knew was going to happen! Another twist i never saw coming.
All im going to say is that Peter Clines and BV Larson need to write a series together after reading this.

Buy this audio book and sit back for some great story telling. Another home run Mr. Clines.

"Loved the new "Dead Girl" character."
Where does Ex-Communication rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is one of the better science fiction series.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Loved having multiple readers. Personalities are much more evident.

    "Really good 3rd installment"
What made the experience of listening to Ex-Communication the most enjoyable?

Honestly this book falls directly in line with its 2 predecessors, great story and really well written.

    Any additional comments?

Don't listen to many of the other reviews, the change in voices wasn't all that terrible. This is not the first book where I have noticed the voices change, either through production errors or other ideas for making the book in that way. It really isn't all that horrid, and it only happens here and there.

"A story about Superheros and Zombies"

I like Walking Dead, I thought World War Z was a fun zombie book (and the only zombie book i've bothered reading outside of this series). Most of the time I spend On Stephen King or maybe those Prey series.

Yet Peter Clines hooked me with 14, so I gave Ex heroes a chance. . and loved it. Ex Communication is the third in the series. . and for a world overrun with the undead (who left is there to fight) this stories setup. . .actually began in the previous book. It all comes together, is well done. . .and gives us a deeper look at one super character we kind of thought left us too soon

There were a few glitches when I started, like sometimes the girl was read by a girl and sometimes a boy. . but I think they fixed it. I ate through this book in record time. Its just cool, clean, fun.

Now if only we could return to the world of 14. . .is there any stories there left to tell?

    "zombies vs heros"

Another great book by Peter Clines. My version was screwed up with wrong voices for some of the characters, but you know, I enjoyed it anyway.

It went into more of a magical tone, and thought it would lose some of its hold on me, but it didn't. The series as a whole is a must buy.

    Story
    "Peter Clines does it again"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I recommend Peter Clines books to everyone that I think would enjoy them. There is a great overall story that I think people will like if they are into the genre, but there are also subtle things that readers of classic horror and comic books will pick up on that not every reader may get.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I think Max is my favorite character of this novel. You don't get to see that much of him in the previous books, and his character literally comes to life in this book. Every great hero, or heroes, needs a truly evil and diabolical villain to test there metal against.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Of course the climactic battle is great, but when George leaves the compound to face , who knows what, the interaction between himself and Stealth is classic Super Hero self-denial. It shows how even though these were once normal people, they no longer are.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Even though it's not a big dramatic event, when it is revealed what Corpse Girl's real situation is. It kind of broke my heart. No matter what you believe in we are alive and aware of our own mortality.

    Any additional comments?

I'm writing this after re-listening to the book in order to prepare for the next. I am so glad I started the series when it first came out. I will anxiously await each new book until Mr. Clines decides it's all over. And then listen to them all again.

"Good installment to the series with a few flaws"

First, I'll say that like the other two books in the series, Ex-Communication is well acted and a lot of fun. I do recommend it for anyone who enjoyed the first two books and highly recommend the first two books for anyone who hasn't read them. This is a good book and was worth a listen.

Having said that, this is my leas favorite in the series so far for a couple different but related reasons. I wont go into specifics as they would require some spoilers so my explanation is going to be a bit vague. First, Clines made an attempt to develop some of the series characters a bit but his efforts fell a bit flat for me. Rather than making the character(s) in question more interesting, they lost some of what made them so compelling to begin with. Legion, for those who are familiar with the series, makes another appearance but he also takes a step backwards as far as development and takes actions that make absolutely no sense and completely go against his own motivations as we have known them over 2 previous books. These issues left me a bit dissatisfied and confused once it was all said and done.

On the flip side, one character who was a bit of a side note earlier in the series gets some series and well spent development time. A new character is also introduced who gets a lot of good and well spent development time as well.

So, in summary, Ex-Communication is a good read/listen just like the others in the series but does leave me a bit concerned about the direction of the series.
