Publisher's summary

Angel Crawford is finally starting to get used to life as a brain-eating zombie, but her problems are far from over. Her felony record is coming back to haunt her, more zombie hunters are popping up, and she’s beginning to wonder if her hunky cop-boyfriend is involved with the zombie mafia. Yeah, that’s right—the zombie mafia. Throw in a secret lab and a lot of conspiracy, and Angel’s going to need all of her brainpower—and maybe a brain smoothie as well—in order to get through it without falling apart.

Great Fun!

What made the experience of listening to Even White Trash Zombies Get the Blues the most enjoyable?

The one liners. A ton of humor!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Angel of course. She takes what's thrown at her and is learning to deal with it.

What about Allison McLemore’s performance did you like?

She was fantastic. She read the characters perfectly

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed out loud constantly and went immediately to Audible to get the next one.

Any additional comments?

It's about Zombies (not usually my thing) and the cover photo is a bit of a turn off, but this is quickly growing to be one of my favorite series. The writer doesn't take the zombie thing to far. It's basically just about a gal, thrown a bum deal that handles it with a sense of humor. You can't help but to cheer her on!

A harrowing tale of zombie intrigue!

WARNING: this book has lots of foul language (no, seriously... lots)

I can't quite get over how engaging it is to peek into a white trash zombies day-to-day life.

Despite being a slave to her appetite for a distinctly cerebral fare, our heroines challenges are often close reflections of our own. She strives to better herself, determined to improve her life and escape the destructive path her life was on.

In many ways her struggle is not unlike that of all that aspire to better themselves. Who among us mere mortals can say we haven't tangled with our fair share of mad scientists, fled zombie hunters bent on our destruction and had trouble fitting in at posh parties?

(Seriously, do not read if foul language is an issue..)

An interesting twist on the zombie genre.

Would you listen to Even White Trash Zombies Get the Blues again? Why?

Yes, I already have. I enjoyed the way the narrator gives Angel Crawford a real southern draw.

What other book might you compare Even White Trash Zombies Get the Blues to and why?

Well, there's the first book by Diana Rowland My Life as a White Trash Zombie. I was so happy to find a sequel to this book with Even White Trash Zombies get the Blues. I wanted to know what happened to Angel Crawford.

Which scene was your favorite?

When she finds out who made her.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

A Zombie's point of view

Just as good as the first book!!!!!

I love zombies and love zombie stories even more but I'm not usually a fan of zombies that can think for themselves. Warm bodies was obnoxious and basically Twilight for zombies, I really, really don't like those kinds of stories. But Diana Rowland gives zombies a whole new look in her White Trash books, they have feelings and emotions like Warm Bodies while still staying awesomely badass. Angel is an independent female that I can get behind, she's still trying to figure her new zombie self out and she's not afraid to tell you. There's a love story but it doesn't overwhelm the main story line and there's no annoying out of place sex scenes (I'm looking at you True Blood!) that take away from the story.

And then there's the narrator, Alison McLemore, who is absolutely, unbelievably amazing! She brought the whole book to life with in the first couple of minutes and captures Angel (the main character) perfectly, the accent is spot on, the stutters, pauses all of it. If she's narrating a book, no matter what it is, I'll probably listen to it because she did such a good job with this series.

Even better than the first!

This book is the second in a series written by Diana Rowland, and it is honestly even better than the first book! The angle of the protagonist, Angel, being a "white trash" zombie is pretty funny, and lends to a lighthearted, easy read. There is some language, so keep that in mind if you are easily offended by that.

The narrator, Allison McLemore is fantastic, and very true to the Angel character that I would imagine the author was going for. She added to the book, and brought it to another level, which is what all of the best narrators do. Excellent!

White Trash Wow!!!!!

What a surprise! This was wonderful! So will work, wonderfully Comic, yet so deeply dark and emotional at moments as we watch Angel a redneck, alcoholic, heavy drug user, who's abused by her father, also an alcoholic, go from that person to someone else entirely. Sure maybe if took getting bit and dying and turning into a Zombie but hey cheaper than rehab right? Ha! well it might of been cheaper but in Angels case anyways it costs her dearly... it's a great adventure and a wonderful read! WELL WORTH YOUR TIME! Can't wait to start the next book!

A seameless continuation to a great series!

In the first novel, we got introduced to the high school dropout, Angel Crawford; a self loading, pill popping-looser; daughter of an alcoholic deadbeat, living in the swamps of Louisiana. I don’t think I need to draw you a picture, just look at the fabulous cover. But all that comes to an abrupt end when she wakes up in the morgue craving brains and wondering what that hell happened to her.
Who knew that becoming a zombie will put Angel on the right path, and the reader/listener in the path to discovering a fantastic, creepy, gross (better have a strong stomach) mysterious, funny, suspenseful, and downright entertaining world.
I love Angel; I think you will too, she’s smart and funny. Her sarcastic personality with her self deprecating-down to earth tone make a terrific, but most importantly, a genuine character. So, If you haven’t read/listened to the first novel, stop right here. You need to get properly introduced to Ms. Rowland’s zombies, with the first entry, My Life As A White trash Zombie.
Angel is coping with her new reality; she has learned most of how her new world works, and what she needs to do to survive. Everything seems to be going fine for Angel, but things start to get complicated, and now, besides making sure she has a jar of brain’s smoothie at hand - she also has to deal with new dangers; zombie hunters, conspiracies, her unsavory past catching up to her, not to mention her boyfriend's attitude.
The twist and turns, the mystery, the small dab of romance, and a great ending, make this entry a must read or listen. I’m seriously hoping we don’t have to wait a whole year for the following novel, White Trash Zombie Apocalypse.

Narration:
This is my first experience with Alison McLemore, and I thought she did a very good job bringing this novel and its characters to life.
I have to warn you, I’m not an expert in southern accents, but Ms. McLemore approach definitely worked for me, even though, at first I thought it might have been a little bit over the top, I settled down within the first chapter, and just began to enjoy the story. She does a fantastic job communicating Angel’s emotions, as well as the rest of the character’s.
The mood and feel of the novel are skillfully captured, and nicely transmitted to the listener.
One thing I’m not so sure about though, that is, the sense of humor. I did find the first novel (which I read) a lot funnier than this one - I’m not sure if my inner voice for Angel was funnier, or maybe this novel was a little bit more serious. I’m planning a re-visit on audio to find out.
I didn’t have problems distinguishing the different voices, except for Angel’s father, sometimes they sounded too much alike, but it's such small portion of the novel that it does not really make that much of the difference. I was fine with her male voices; this is not a romance ( the center anyway) so I’m a lot more lenient in these cases, and did I find them quite adequate.
All in all, this was a great listen, and I recommend this series to any UF fan in search of something new, engrossing, original and fresh, if the word "fresh" can be use when speaking about Zombies :)

More Zombie Trouble and Fun

Great continuation of the story. Angel again encounters her share of trouble (most of which is not her fault) and she continues to grow as a character. I really appreciate the sassy humor and the good writing as Angel progressively builds more confidence and self-respect. She trying to solve the "who and how" behind some strange and scary (and mostly criminal) events. I really appreciate the way she matures and handles her relationships with her father and Marcus. Allison McLemore does a wonderful job with the narration and bringing the story to life. I definitely recommend and will be going on to the third installment.
