A cease-fire that has lasted seven years. Worlds half-destroyed that have been rebuilt anew. Friends and crewmates scattered light-years apart. New leaders that would be kings. The Jung threat has been renewed, in ways not imagined. It will take a new savior to inspire the masses, and once again lead those willing to fight against oppression. But who will the new savior be?

I was excited to see a new story in the series and made the mistake of just spending the credit without paying attention that the Narrator changed. The Narrator would be good for a deep voice "movie coming soon" commercial or a biography but horrible for a audio book where you need a range of voices and emotion. Maybe three pitches in his voice and hard to tell when the person talking is female or male. All males sounded the same and all females just a tiny pitch higher. It was hard to pay attention to the story because there was just NO way to stay interested and vested in the characters when everyone sounds the same and there is almost 0 emotion in his voice...
How much to NEVER narrate a book again? I'm sure it's worth the pain and suffering to my metal health and phy. therapy so I can hold a cup again.
As * see it
1 you have no clue as how to develope characters and intertwine them into the written story thereby breathing a living life into the author's sacred work.
2 you use an idiotic ploy EVERY SINGLE TIME to build suspense by over dramatic over excited narration of the characters instead of letting the author's work ...
here's a clue you hack, professional military personnel DO NOT act or Talk like THAT! It's a G-D insult! You should be ashamed of yourself. (yeah, fiction, I know. But how in the FRACK could anyone SCREW THAT UP? REALLY?)
3 you narrate like you are talking over someone's shoulder. almost mono tone or emotional less... or is it inflection and cadence.
4 ALL BUT YOUR NORMAL VOICE IS BEYOND ANNOYING. *f you could put an audio clip next to whiney little sucker... it would be every one of your annoying voice characters.
5 and I'll bet you didn't listen to the previous narrator did you?
please stay far away from Any SCI FI ... maybe retire.
WITH ALL DUE RESPECT...
I'M JUST SAYING.... YOU'RE HORRIBLE. as narrators go.
Bring back the original narrator of the series.
The narration was lifeless. It took me a few chapters to become reacquainted to the old characters. I didn't realize how much I associated certain characters with the previous narrators performance. I was confused and distracted from the story trying to recall which character was which and their backstories based on the previous books.
Military and Science
The book was probably ok. I cant tell if my dislike is purely story or narrator based... The bottom line is that I cannot listen to a series over a dozen books long with one narrator then just change like this.It would be different if they were all different characters but to have the same characters with different voices, accents and emotions just takes away from the story.I like David Drummond, I enjoy his narration in other series and would be bothered if he was replaced in them. But the bottom line is that I am done with the audiobooks for this series, I will go back to the kindles and read them in Jeffrey Kafers voice.
Bring back Jeffry Kafer! The story's continuity is ruined with the poor, gratingly monotonous, and dry narration. I can't finish the audio and sadly gave it up 1/4 to the book. It's just not the same, and the seemingly interesting story is no longer sustainable. Very disappointed. The author and publisher should really bring back Jeffry K. He is as much part of the story and not having him has really killed this saga like the hero in the book we came to believe in.
another great book in the series. can't wait for the next one. wish they would have stayed with Jeffrey Later as the reader so the voices were the same. this guy makes all the characters sound like they are old men and pronounced names differently, really got annouying, he should have listened to the first 15 so he got them right. really hoping they hire jefferey later again for the rest.
Need to bring back Jeffery K as the narrator. This one makes the characters sound too much like wining cartoon characters. He also should have reviewed the pronoun cistron of character names in previous books. Liked the story but the narrator left me discouraged.
I think the book was better than the audio book. The new narrator is not as good, but I'm probably more bothered that he is different. None of the character voices map over in my mind. I had 15 audio books with the same voice, and when I read the kindle books, I hear the same voice, even when this book released ahead of the narration. I feel like that's the biggest drag for me on otherwise really enjoying the book.
The story is pretty decent. I loved the last half of the first series, and figure this book is teeing up the rest of this series.
If I have to. If he keeps narrating the rest of part 2, I will faithfully listen.
