Publisher's Summary

You've heard of Faust - this is Eric. There's a difference.

Eric is 14, lives on the famed and magical Discworld, and is the first ever demonology hacker. Fortunately, he doesn't succeed in raising any devils, but he does raise Rincewind (the most incompetent wizard in the universe) and the Luggage (the world's most dangerous travel accessory).

When Eric turns them loose on an unprotected world, the idea is that Rincewind will grant him his three rather adolescent wishes. You know, the usual three: live forever, rule the world, meet the most beautiful woman who ever lived. Simple, really.

Getting marooned at the dawn of Time, changing the future, and meeting history's most embarrassing god is only the start. Creating life on the Discworld is a mere detail. Because Rincewind ends up going through Hell. Literally.

    "Rincewind returns"

Through a million to one chance Rincewind manages to escape the Dungeon Dimensions and finds himself under the control of Eric, a teenage-Demonologist. Eric's only desires are to be ruler of the disc, have the most beautiful woman and live forever. No one is more amazed than Rincewind himself when the wishes seem to get fulfilled, however, with unexpected side-effects...
Pratchett delivers as always a fantastic story taking dozens of jibes at world history such as the Trojan War or modern Management methods. Even though the story is short (by Terry's standards) it is very fast paced and never gets boring :).

    "great part of an epic"

loved this book, just as wonderful as auidobook,. Stephen Briggs' narration of Terry pratchett's books is a s usual excellent, giving full life and humour to the books I love so much. wonderfully kept as unabridged, which is a must for me, with Stephen's lovely voice that smoothly and full of the wit and humour that leaps to mind when thinking of Terry pratchet books

    "As Good As They Get"

If there is not something in this book that has everyone bursting into fits of uncontrollable laughter then there is something wrong with the world. From the fourteen-year old demonologist with a false beard, to the general who likes to leave decoy horses out the front while he sneaks round the back and not forgetting the demonic god who strikes fear into the hearts of all (at least until they find out he?s only six inches tall. There is something in this story for everyone.

Don?t be put off by the short length, this is still one of the best Pratchett books to date. It has the welcome return of old characters as well as an influx of new ones. We learn why hell is so much worse now than it was and also have the mystery of paperclips solved.

I didn't notice how short this was until after I spent a credit on it. Would of been nice if it only cost half a credit.

    The book itself was great.

""The Road to Hell is Paved with Good Intensions!""

Item... Not doing anything to solve a problem can provide opportunity for Others to make use of it.
Item... Getting out of the worst mess you have ever been in may not be such a good thing.
Item... Happiness is sometimes knowing without a doubt just how much worse things could be.

Vanity, Greed, Self-Importance, lust (well... Suspected lust), and many other sins will get you to hell. And sometimes walking fast and with confidence is all that will get you out.

    "Good story, great narration"

This is a good story, but not the best of the disc world books. however the narration by Stephen Briggs is great as always. it is very easy to recognise the different characters when he reads and they are consistent book to book. worth getting to complete the disc world set, but if looking for a first book to get into the series I would recommend The Colour of Magic or Hogfather instead.

    "very short romp through Discworld"

No real character development. Set of disjointed gags with no real payoff. the wonderful humour and loveable Discworld save it.

The narrator was excellent but this production has long pauses and duplicates some the "text" and fades out a couple of times
