Eric is 14, lives on the famed and magical Discworld, and is the first ever demonology hacker. Fortunately, he doesn't succeed in raising any devils, but he does raise Rincewind (the most incompetent wizard in the universe) and the Luggage (the world's most dangerous travel accessory).
When Eric turns them loose on an unprotected world, the idea is that Rincewind will grant him his three rather adolescent wishes. You know, the usual three: live forever, rule the world, meet the most beautiful woman who ever lived. Simple, really.
Getting marooned at the dawn of Time, changing the future, and meeting history's most embarrassing god is only the start. Creating life on the Discworld is a mere detail. Because Rincewind ends up going through Hell. Literally.

"He is screamingly funny. He is wise. He has style." (Daily Telegraph)
Through a million to one chance Rincewind manages to escape the Dungeon Dimensions and finds himself under the control of Eric, a teenage-Demonologist. Eric's only desires are to be ruler of the disc, have the most beautiful woman and live forever. No one is more amazed than Rincewind himself when the wishes seem to get fulfilled, however, with unexpected side-effects...
Pratchett delivers as always a fantastic story taking dozens of jibes at world history such as the Trojan War or modern Management methods. Even though the story is short (by Terry's standards) it is very fast paced and never gets boring :).
Terry Pratchett writes so well, he is so funny and Stephen Briggs narrates so well, capturing all the funny bits perfectly. What a team!
"As Good As They Get"
If there is not something in this book that has everyone bursting into fits of uncontrollable laughter then there is something wrong with the world. From the fourteen-year old demonologist with a false beard, to the general who likes to leave decoy horses out the front while he sneaks round the back and not forgetting the demonic god who strikes fear into the hearts of all (at least until they find out he?s only six inches tall. There is something in this story for everyone.
Don?t be put off by the short length, this is still one of the best Pratchett books to date. It has the welcome return of old characters as well as an influx of new ones. We learn why hell is so much worse now than it was and also have the mystery of paperclips solved.
"very short romp through Discworld"
No real character development. Set of disjointed gags with no real payoff. the wonderful humour and loveable Discworld save it.
"An old favorite bought to life"
Stephen Briggs has a special insight into the mind of Terry Pratchett and the workings of the Discworld. He has a voice that brings all of the characters to life.
I have enjoyed reading this story for many years, bringing the legend of Faust to the discworld in Terry Pratchetts own special way.
My all time favourite character is Rincewind the Wizard and as always Stephen Briggs portrays him just as he sounds in my head.
I laughed several times throughout this book, it is one of the shorter but definitely one of the funnier discworld books.
"Loving the story"
Unlikely coincidences happen!
Any pratchett dis world novel because the stories are so well written and so funny. The characters you'll revisit again and again.
The meeting of the academics of the unseen univ.
Nope unless you include tears of laughter.
"If you love Terry you wil love this"
Granted it is quite short but very funny. - It is absolutly hilarious listening to the story. Stphen Briggs does an excelent job voicing them and when you hear what the luggage gets up to in a jungle at the beginning of the multiverse and when it finally arrives at the door of hell while a bureaucratic maniac (no not a spelling mistake) tries some new twists on hell and on what kind of potted plants the demons have you will be giggling and laughing and most probably spill your tea from shaking
"Beware what you wish for!"
Rincewind turns up again, puzzled and trying to get out of whatever it is he has landed in! Magically written and held my attention from start to finish.
