I have read and listened to this book half a dozen times and it never gets old.

I just wish they had the language and map as downloadable PDFs. I always loved that with the books.

Not Bad

I enjoyed revisiting one of my favorite childhood books/stories! And I think the narrator did a great job. I didn’t enjoy the dragon’s voice in the beginning but it grew on me. The story was a bit much at times but I think that’s understandable given the book is for teens/young adults.

Great for fantasy beginners and some veterans alike.

The story, while derivative, still has plenty of charm. The writing is easy to follow-along with, and the magic system and universe are extremely easy to understand, so not much of a learning curve. Great for those starting off their journey with fantasy, though seasoned readers might find much to love here as well, however those craving political intrigue and darker, more mature storylines, or deeper may have to look elsewhere. I also wasn’t a fan of the dragons having a grumbling voice. Growing up, I always imagined their voices weren’t too much different than those of humans, but there may have been a piece of the text that I missed that described their voices like that. It just comes off a bit distracting and odd, like the voice of a muppet or something. I think a voice modulator might work better. Sapphira sounds quite masculine as a result. Otherwise, the narrator does an excellent job with all the other characters.

This is a very good book. It’s exciting and VERY long. It’s a bit slow paced, but it’s entertaining and well written. I admire the narrators talents, and he is very good at setting the scene with his voices and exotic accents. My one pet peeve is that the dragon kind of constantly sounds like an angry muppet. It’s a little annoying to me, but I’ve honestly gotten used to it. I wish there were more female characters, but what are you going to do. I recommend this for fantasy nerds. It’s a lot like Lord Of The Rings. Over all, it’s a compelling story and a good narrator.

This book

I have always loved this book series! Not super fond of the narrator. He did good but I needed the voices to sound a little more different from each other.

Thrilling and imaginative!!

I absolutely love this story about an unexpected hero with powers that are mysterious and I loved how the mysteries are unraveling! I’m starting the next one now.
