Riska, a miniature winged tiger, is the first Risk Alleviator prototype. A purposeful collision of biology and weaponry, he is product of the Global Arms research facility. He was crafted to be a bodyguard for the wealthy and privileged. Before his kind can be mass produced and released to the market, an extensive testing and training phase is required.
When a training session goes horribly wrong, Riska is slated for destruction. Dr. Hom intercedes to save Riska's life, presenting a new proposal to Global Arms. Riska is released into his care. The eccentric doctor is the first human to show him kindness, and a bond is quickly forged between the two.
But even as Dr. Hom alters Riska in the desired direction of Global Arms, it becomes clear he has his own agenda. First and foremost among those is to create a personal bodyguard for his daughter, Sulan.

If you have read the first book, then yes, I'd definitely recommend.
Riskas origin and why he was created.
She had a good range of tones.
Risk Alleviator is really short but packed full of information. I can't say too much about the plot because there are spoilers if you haven.t yet read book 1. This book is told from Riskas POV and we learn about how and why he was made and how he came to be with Sulan. We also see his side of the story from when Sulan and what he did next.
I adored Sulan when I read it and one of my favourite parts was Riska. He is such a dote and his loyalty to Sulan was awesome. I loved this little novella and finding out all about Riska. His back story was fascinating!! This is a must read for anyone who has read Sulan. It answers a lot about him.
I listened to the audio of this and I'm so glad I did because Michele Carpenter did an awesome job. She narrated it as if she was a young boy because Riska is male and in my opinion she nailed it. I loved the extra inflictions she gave for each character and how she brought Riska to life.
After finishing book 1 of the series I couldn't wait for book 2, well this just makes me even more excited for it and reminded me why I loved Riska in the first place.
It makes me happy to wake up everyday and look forward to listening. Many times I listen while doing artwork. I find it very relaxing.
Risk Alleviator is one of the most Amazing audiobooks I’ve listened to. We learn how Riska, Sulan’s venom spitting winged protector came into being. When Sulan is kidnapped, Riska emits tracking fluid, one of his many mods, onto her so he can find her. Riska has been genetically altered by Dr. Hom to specifically protect Sulan whose a mathematical genius.
As a short story, “Risk Alleviator” is packed with greatness. Told from Riska’s POV, the descriptions of everything happening around him are engrossing right down to the last minute detail. It has an abduction feel about it as he is saved from being put to death and genetically tweaked until he becomes a perfect protection companion for Sulan. He isn’t hurt, he’s saved. And he loves Sulan.
This is a very fascinating story and I’m looking forward to the series. It was a whole new level of coolness in a story and an audiobook. I thought it was original and fresh and I’m so excited about this one. It’s entirely different. I can’t recommend it enough. Brilliant!
About the narrator: Michele Carpenter took audio to a whole new level of entertainment. She did an incredible job voicing this audiobook. It was bar none one of the best performances I’ve ever listened to. She is exceptionally talented and was perfect for this story. A must listen to.
I seriously can’t wait to hear more from Camille Picott, Michele Carpenter. Riska, AND Sulan. OUTSTANDING!
