Character assassination at its finest.

Michael Rowe took a lot of time to interesting and original characters, and proceeded to meaninglessly kill them off. Oh sure not ALL of them died to ravenous vampires, but after the abomination of this novel's 'climax' and ending they were dead to me.

I really liked the characters he created, especially Elliot and Billy; the former a gay man loathed to face his past life, the latter a native Canadian still facing everyday racism as an established professor. But even after all that he still managed to twist the characters in a matter of minutes into acting completely outside their defined normal. Lets not even get into the 12 year old boy who spends half the story crying about his dog who ends up getting pity sex from someone who treated him as a younger brother.

I can't even really put into words how the last 20% of this book made me feel. Betrayed? Let down? Angry I even went out on a limb and bought it?

The performance was good. I enjoyed the native american (ok canadian) accent that Stillwell created. Really, his portrayal of the cast of characters was well done. I wish his talent was enough to make the book worth reading.

Overall? Don't waste your time.

Good read, even though it's a bit disjointed

So, the concept is really good, and Rowe's writing is good. However, some aspects were rough. He has a throw away story in the beginning of the book that really doesn't make any sense why it would be in there; his back stories on the characters are MADDENINGLY drawn out, so much so that it takes a away a bit from the main story; and the coolest part of the story (the last few chapters ) would have been much better served in the beginning of the story. However the old adage is true, those who can, write and those who can't....write Audible reviews. That being said he did a good job on this; the Narrator (Kevin Stillwell) did a really great job!! Great tone and speed

I enjoyed it

This was a good listen for the most part. Good characters though their motivations and drivers may feel odd to some because of the differences between the early 70's and today. Vicious vampires. My favorite. I enjoyed it.

The book goes off into another direction in the last few chapters of it, to explain the origins of the vampires. It threw me a little.

strong start

I really loved the first half of this book but was truly dissapointed with the second half and way it ended. I would have loved to hear more about christina and Morgan and what happened to them!!

The main story was great, but the end drug on.

overall, this is a very good vampire novel. What heard it for me was the last couple chapters after the main story takes place. I found it extremely dull and slow which is a shame because the main story was very good. It would have been four stars if not for that.

No real ending to this plodding, overstuffed work

I was left wondering what the heck happened in the primary storyline in this novel. It just kind of peters off without a resolution, while the author then dives into an, albeit interesting, origin story for the antagonist. Too much time is spent in developing irrelevant characters also.

The narrator was ok, but his cadence left a lot to be desire at many points.

Truly Frightening

Enter, Night is a deeply moving and, at times, quite terrifying vampire novel. The book is broken into two distinct-but-related stories. The first is set in 1972 and the second takes place in the days when Canada was still "New France". The story builds slowly but when it kicks in, it kicks in with a vengeance.

A warning to readers with delicate sensibilities: this isn't the book for you. It's both vividly gruesome and sexually explicit.

Kevin Stillwell does a superb job with the narration.

Disappointed

Weak characters i was expecting salems lot but didnt have any one to cheer on

My first from Mr. Rowe, but not my last.

Something has awakened in the small town of Parrs Landing. And it’s hungry.

This one really had 70’s early 80’s horror vibe to it. I liked the eccentric cast of characters and the pacing was spot on. Interestingly, the ending was a flashback to the beginning and had a much different feel to it as if they were 2 separate stories. Should have been distracting, but somehow managed to stay cohesive.

Kevin Stillwell nailed the narration for this one. Dude was spot on with his cadence and pacing. Very well done.

Where has this book been all my life

I thought I had read all the good vampire books, and then I found this. I was blown away, Great Entertaining story, scary vampires, characters you care about and not unlike Salems lot, which is one of my favorite vampire novels. it even has an epilogue that reminds me of Jerusalem's lot. And the narrator did a fantastic job
