Publisher's summary

The multiple-award-winning science-fiction master returns to the universe that is his greatest triumph - the world of Hyperion and The Fall ofHyperion - with a novel even more magnificent than its predecessors.

Dan Simmons's Hyperion was an immediate sensation on its first publication in 1989. This staggering multifaceted tale of the far future heralded the conquest of the science-fiction field by a man who had already won the World Fantasy Award for his first novel (Song of Kali) and had also published one of the most well-received horror novels in the field, Carrion Comfort. Hyperion went on to win the Hugo Award as Best Novel, and it and its companion volume, The Fall of Hyperion, took their rightful places in the science-fiction pantheon of new classics.

Here, Simmons returns to this richly imagined world of technological achievement, excitement, wonder and fear. Endymion is a story about love and memory, triumph and terror - an instant candidate for the field's highest honors.

Excellence in sci fi narrative continues!

If the first book, Hyperion was a modern Syfy telling of the Canterbury tales, then here we have wonderful elements of Huckleberry Finn, Edgar Allan Poe, and other literary flavors brought together in Syfy fantastic nature. This is an excellent continuation of one of the best modern sci fi books I’ve ever read

What a great 2nd part

Loves Hyperion and this did not disappoint. I was skeptical at the beginning but once it was moving I was hooked. It has the same draw as the first two but for completely different reasons. It is also a great continuance of the story of man while not being the same. Can’t wait to get to the next one.

Dan Simmons' Magnum opus

This series is one I've listened to many times and never tire of, and I find new Easter eggs and new things to love about it each time.

Good

My Review - Good

This is another entry within the scifi collection of Hyperion that proved to be interesting and worth the listen. The story picks up after a major climax in part two, and follows the character Endymion as he escorts a cast of characters across a space time adventure. What I like about this book is that it is an easy starting point if you didn't start from book one. Also, following this one story is more concise than the Canterbury Tales style of the first two books. I don't think I enjoyed the performance as much, and took me out of the story a bit, but I honestly think this is a me problem. I can't wait to get to the final book Rise of Endymion.

Good, but not as good as Hyperion trilogy

It was a good story. And an interesting way to continue the stories from Hyperion. But it was too long. Sometimes it felt like we were just spinning along to lengthen the novel. I’ll definitely listen to the next book. I’m just hoping there is more substance less fluff.
