Publisher's summary

Orson Scott Card returns to his best-selling series with a new Ender novel, Ender in Exile.

At the close of Ender's Game, Andrew Wiggin - called Ender by everyone - is told that he can no longer live on Earth, and he realizes that this is the truth. He has become far more than just a boy who won a game: he is the Savior of Earth, a hero, a military genius whose allegiance is sought by every nation of the newly shattered Earth Hegemony. He is offered the choice of living in isolation on Eros, at one of the Hegemony's training facilities, but instead the 12-year-old chooses to leave his home world and begin the long relativistic journey out to the colonies. With him went his sister Valentine, and the core of the artificial intelligence that would become Jane.

The story of those years has never been told...until now.

Bought the ticket... Took the ride

This series marks a high point for me as a consumer of books and an aspiring writer. It's not a good spot to pick up the story but an excellent one for those looking to see how it all came together

Missing Words

It may have been my device, but I am not sure how it could have been... As the story progressed, near the middle, the first word when the narration changed would be missing and the next would be "(missing word) Said Ender...... Said XYZ". I suspect that in editing they somehow cut the first few seconds of each character lines. It was annoying and made it harder to follow. It also had a few instances of repeated lines where you think is this de javu or what and then you think did I accidentally hit the 30-second repeat button, but no it is how it was made. The Story is top-notch and the performance of the speakers was at the same caliber, but the editor needs to review their work better....

Mixed

I have mixed feelings about this book. It ties up some loose ends and it was a fun listen which I guess is reason enough to buy it if you are already familiar with the first book, Ender's Game. But as a stand alone novel I found the themes repetitious and the plot weaker than I expected from this gifted writer. Overall, worth a credit but 4 stars instead of 5.

Another reason this is a great book.

Though it would be unfair to say this is as good the previous Enderverse books. But it really is. It is it's own entity. I do so continue to look forward to next in the series.

To the afterword:
You have and I do.

I'm a fan.

Could have been slightly broader. But as it is, I shed a tear or two. Translation: it must be good.

Great addition to the sender series

Great performance by most, I prefer when only two or three narrators are used, the switching voices can be disorienting, but that my personal opinion, it doesn't degrade the overall story.
