A pleasant and charming story

It takes a couple of chapters before it finds it feet, but then it moves along at a very nice pace.

Not what I expected from OSC, but entertaining

I've read Enders Game and loved the sci-fi classic, read the reviews for this book and tried it.

It was a clever version of Sleeping Beauty, but not what I expected from OSC, more of a teeny-bop love story

Refreshingly different.

This book is a little out of the norm for me. I enjoyed the twist on the sleeping beauty story. It made for a interesting story, which I enjoyed very much. It also has none of the polished history that a lot of books have, very down to earth with how living and superstition changes the way people lived.

Wonderful reading of great novel

I loved the book when I read it, I enjoyed the Audible version just as much. The two narrators did an excellent job giving voices to the characters. This novel takes all the Sleeping Beauty, and Wicked Witch fairy tales and spins them into an Enchanted new one.

so so good

When I started this audiobook, I didn't realize I had read it when I was younger but remembered a short way into the book. I remember liking it then, but I'm sure I appreciated more as an adult this time around. Lovely story, good. narration.

Sweet but drawn out

And surprisingly lacking of any "lessons" or moral point of view. A good fairy tale, skillfully performed -- not as compelling as card's best (speaker for the dead), but easy listening.if a little too long.

Production distracts away from story

Orson Scott Card's retelling of Sleeping Beauty combines magic, time-travel, and action. At times it felt over-descriptive, and the ending was a bit too "happily ever after," but the real strength of the novel comes from the realistic imagining of a well-known fairy tale told from different characters' viewpoints. The novel shows its readers how the same situation can be viewed from multiple perspectives (each valid in its own right), and how everyone deserves at least some sympathy.

I was surprised to find that there are 2 narrators. While Steven Rudnicki and the female narrator are both skilled, the narration would have been better with only one of them. In fact, the dual narration made things confusing as the two narrators did different accents and voices for the same characters, and it was unpleasant being surprised by the louder female voice after listening to the male voice. And what was up with the music played when the story was told from Babayaga's perspective?! Basically, it seemed the production team had many ideas but when they tried to include all of them, it took away from the novel instead of adding to it.
