Publisher's Summary

The quest was over. The Orb of Aldur was restored. And once again, with the crowning of Garion, there was a descendant of Riva Iron-grip to rule as Overlord of the West. And yet the prophecy was unfulfilled. In the east, the evil god Torak was about to awaken and seek dominion. Somehow, Garion had to face the god, to kill or be killed. On the outcome of that dread duel rested the destiny of the world. Now, accompanied by his grandfather, the ancient sorcerer Belgarath, Garion heads toward the City of Endless Night, where Torak awaits him.

To the south, his young fiancée, the Imperial Princess Ce'Nedra, leads the armies of the West in a desperate effort to divert the forces of Torak's horde away from the man she loved. The prophecy drives Garion on, but it gives no answer to the question that haunts him. How does a man kill an immortal god? He must answer that question in this resolution of the epic war between men, kings and gods that has spanned 7,000 years.

What the Critics Say

"Absorbing. Touches all the right Fantasy bases. Warring gods, political intrigues, supernatural creatures, and appealingly human magicians." (Publishers Weekly)
"Fabulous! Eddings has a marvelous storyteller style. Exceedingly well portrayed." (Anne McCaffrey)

    "My Favorite Fantasy Series"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would absolutely recommend this entire series to a friend. I have actually done so. It is a perfect set for audio.

What did you like best about this story?

The best thing about The Belgariad is that it is the perfect combination of marvelous stories and great story telling.

Have you listened to any of Cameron Beierle’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I own everything that the Eddings have written and Cameron Beierlie fits the voice that I have always imagined telling the stories. These are the first that I have heard him narrate but I will be looking for more from him.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

A Sword and Sorcery adventure for the ages.

    Any additional comments?

I waited until I had heard the entire series The Belgariad and The Malorrean before doing a review. I must say that, having read them in print, the audio versions are just as much fun and entirely engrossing. Very Well Done.

"A true classic of epic fantasy"

A fantastic finale to a series that should be considered a classic of epic fantasy. Edding's rich and immersive world, with its well crafted history and principles of magic, and its charming and very human troop of oddly matched adventurers are all beautifully voiced and brought to life through Edding's words and Beierle's talented narration. I loved this series as a kid and greatly enjoyed reliving it again here on audible.

    "Clean, enchanting & enjoyable"

Loved the entire series. Clean enough to listen on speakers while the kids are around.

The good guys are good, the bad guys are bad and that's exactly what I needed in this world of so many twists and turns.

    "Great series!"

The only complaint I would make is I feel the portrayal of the women's voices was a little hard to swallow and at times annoying. The men's were done well

I read this years ago along with the rest of them and thought they were great,BUT, on this revisit I was so disappointed. This felt like mechanical writing, the story was poor and I just did not enjoy it. May be me getting older but I do not think so.

"Enchanter's End Game by David Eddings"

Garion is nearing the end of his quest. Travelling with Mr Wolf and Silk to meet their desperate end, little does he know that his Fiance is leading the armies of the west, in hopes of distracting his enemies, in the hopes that it will help Garion get through. I adore fantasy and David Eddings is one of my favourite writers. This is the ending of a fantastic epic. Will Cenedra and the others escape after being kidnapped? Will Garion ever see them again? Will the evil god Torak survive? read the book and find out.

    "Spoiled By Narrator."
If you could sum up Enchanters' End Game in three words, what would they be?

For the audio version, Ruined, By, Narrator. For the printed version, Simply, Enjoyable, Fun.

Who was your favorite character and why?

In the Printed version its between Silk, Barak and Mandorallen. In this audio version they were all so badly performed its impossible to say.

Would you be willing to try another one of Cameron Beierle’s performances?

    NO!

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I could almost have cried at how how totally this book was ruined by Cameron Beierle's dreadful narration. His mispronunciation of words, the names of characters and places was infuriating. When I first read the printed version of this series it made me laugh and cry, as it was so beautifully written, and the various scenes were so well described.

    Any additional comments?

I can understand that narrators want to give the characters in books, accents and dialects, to make them seem more individual. Mr Beierle's attempts at this however, were painful to listen to. Half the time he seemed to forget which accent he had assigned to which character and sometimes the accent was so thick that it made his speech unintelligible. His interpretation of the character of Sir Mandorallen was utterly ridiculous. He sounded like a bad caricature of a cartoon pirate, instead of a noble knight. And that was only one of the many, many faults in this narration. His mispronunciation of names and places was cringe worthy and extremely annoying. This was one of the very first fantasy series I ever read, when they were first published, along with Anne McCaffrey's brilliant Pern series. When I saw they were available as audio books I was delighted. I feel very let down however, as they have been totally ruined by an awful narrator. Perhaps if someone like Derek Perkins had narrated this series it might have been less painful to listen to.

    "Great story, awful narrator"

The Belgariad is a fantastic story that pushes all the right buttons. The problem is the narrator. He wanders between accents almost at random and there is a distinct whiff of Dickensian van Dyke in "Mary Poppins" about some of them. Bad guys growl with suspiciously foreign accents too. Could have been so much better.

What did you like best about this story?

The story is ageless, the characters are easy to identifiy with, the story is easy to follow but difficult to put down/stop.

Which character – as performed by Cameron Beierle – was your favourite?

    Ce`nedra

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    To kill a God

    Any additional comments?

First read this about 15 years ago, loved it then and have kept coming back to it over the years. Wether i read the or listern to it, i always enjoy it. Its not as heavy going as tolkien but i feel has the same depth of charcters.
I would recomend this to all ages. Great for new comers to fantasy or veteren readers alike.
