"Christopher Paolini is a true rarity."—The Washington Post

Darkness falls… despair abounds… evil reigns… Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have just saved the rebel state from destruction by the mighty forces of King Galbatorix. Now Eragon must travel to Ellésmera, land of the elves, for further training in the skills of the Dragon Rider: magic and swordsmanship. But chaos and betrayal plague him at every turn, and nothing is what it seems. Before long, Eragon doesn’t know whom he can trust.

Will the king’s dark hand strangle all resistance? Eragon may not escape with even his life. . . .

That you can immediately hit play and re-enter a beloved new world, or love story, or era from history is a gift to the devoted listener. But how to pick just 100 of these unique and immersive listening journeys? We defined a series as having a minimum of three books, and—after some debate—we decided the titles had to be anchored in fiction. From YA to horror to historical fiction, from fresh voices to seminal tales, hours of discovery await.

Good Book Good Narrator!

I am not going to bs everyone here, the first book narration sucked, Doyle did not deliver on the first one in my opinion. However in this book it was a complete 180, he had more emphasis and characters sounded significantly different I'm my opinion. The Eldest has an amazing story and Gerard Doyle did a fantastic job.

Awesome.

I am totally invested in the story of both the characters and the world Paolini has imagined. I can't wait to continue the series.

I love the Inheritance Cycle.

Gerard Doyle's voice is the only thing that improves upon this already legendary Novel. I've listened to this series time and time again, and I will keep listening to it until I pass into the void.

Gerard Doyle makes the story better than print.

Gerard Doyle elevates Eldest to something better than just the print book. Well worth the investment. A very good listen.

Magnificent tale full of wonder, hardship & heart.

Paolini's insights into the struggles of youth & the hard-won wisdom of age are masterful. He creates nuanced characters and interwoven adventures that ignited my imagination and, along with Doyle's narration, drew me in and carried me along as if I were virtually sharing all of the experiences of love and loss, fear, determination and transformation.
