Publisher's summary

Morgan Montgomery is waiting to die. Branded a traitor by her tribe, the Ikati shape-shifter has no hope for mercy - until Jenna, the Ikati’s newly crowned queen and Morgan’s former ally, offers one last chance for redemption. Morgan must infiltrate the Rome headquarters of the Expurgari, the Ikati’s ancient enemy, to destroy them once and for all. The beautiful renegade has just a fortnight to complete her mission or forfeit her life. But she does not travel alone.…

Xander Luna is a trained assassin and the Ikati’s most feared enforcer, famed for his swift brutality and stony heart. Fiercely loyal, he is prepared to hate the traitor under his watch - until they come face-to-face. For Morgan Montgomery arouses something unexpected inside of him - something that threatens everything he believes in and the fate of the tribe itself: a love as powerful and passionate as it is forbidden.

Not as good as book one until the end...

This book had a really slow start to be a sequel. It was good, don't get me wrong, but I like a bit more... something the first half of the story. I think I skipped chapter 3-8. Nothing really happened... just some angst moments and slow build up until they got Italy. After Italy the plot really shift gears and picks up dramatically. The story gets really good after that. A totally 3 stars for the storyline after halfway through... but overall, because of the long wait for the story to pick up... I think overall I just can't recommend this book, unless you already have book 1.

Narration was not right for this book. Angela Dawe is a horrible narrator for a shifter book. She is more of a Regency Romance narrator. The constant stopping and pausing with her inflections to build drama, just doesn't work for this book, or any shifter book. It was like a Regency Shifter narration, slowed down. Just didn't work at all.

A credit or sale if you have book 1...

HORRIBLE NARRATOR!!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Yes Morgan being a real traitor.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Zander, the ultimate alpha male.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Angela Dawe?

The narrator that did bk one of the series Shadows Edge. Justine Eyre. She did a very good job and changing her voice for the different characters and her accent was perfect!!

Did Edge of Oblivion inspire you to do anything?

No

Is it just me?

Has Angela Dawe lost her mojo or am I just over her? Why does she insert 4 vowels when a word only calls for two? Why does every sentence tip up at the end, as though she is attempting to imitate a valley girl with a mid-western accent? And, please god, tell me why is she hired to read Highlander romances?

So many questions, so many books to ruin.

I thought it was great that they replaced Justine Eyre in series -- until I found out who they replaced her with.

Back to reading this series on my Kindle.

Sigh.

WATCH OUT FOR THOSE WOMEN!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

YES - YES AND YES, I do really love the "Night Prowler" Series and I do recommend this audiobook to a friend because it kept your attention form the first word to the last of the book. I can hardly wait for the next book to come out.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was "Zander" because true to character, he looses his temper and then can't quite figure out how to get his foot out of his mouth.I

Would you listen to another book narrated by Angela Dawe?

Loved the performance by Angela Dawe.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book made me laugh a lot .

A disappointmen after listening to the first

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, the story was okay, the first book as better, but I found the narration annoying

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Everything was tied up nicely, it was pretty sappy/cheesy, but a happy ending and that's important to me.

Would you be willing to try another one of Angela Dawe’s performances?

No, I've returned an audiobook after about 10 minutes of listening to her performance and didn't pay close enough attention to realize she was the narrator for this book as well and I feel like I was listening to a female version of William Shatner with her very dramatic reading of each and every sentence. And her pronunciation! Ugh! Alejandro is pronounced "Ollie-Jon"Dro," I mean, come on! It really bugged me, if you couldn't tell.

Did Edge of Oblivion inspire you to do anything?

No.

Brilliant

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this book and could have read it a lot faster if I hadn't just started a new job at the same time I received it! This was Morgan's book with her love interest being the Ikati Assassin Xander. It was great getting into her head and seeing how much she genuinely regretted what she did and maybe even craved home a little after trying to escape it for so long. There were also a couple of pretty big twists regarding the Expurgari that I won't reveal but that did take me by surprise at the end!
Xander was easy to like as well, he really had a rough childhood, much rougher then Morgan but he was a good person despite his own poor opinion of himself. I loved these two together as in a lot of ways they can understand each other better then just about anyone else.
I loved meeting the new colony as well and seeing how different they were from the colonies we know. I can see a future story involving Eliana and Demetrius being developed with how the book ended. I'd love to see those two end up together and I think that her fathers research may be important to the Ikati race and be life-changing for them so I'd like to see how it plays out and whether their colony will now make contact with the other colonies, reach out to them and form an alliance of sorts. I'd quite like that, they could come out of the tunnels and live above ground like the other colonies. I also want to see when Jenna (from the first book) is gonna start changing laws to improve the existence of female Ikati and to allow greater freedom in the tribe. I do hope that Morgan returns to the tribe eventually. I think she will miss them and that once she's travelled she may yearn to return home. Espeacially after what she learned. Can't wait for the next book!

Awesome book and narrator..

Any additional comments?

Great read! I loved this book as much as I did the first one. Love, love, loved Xander, he was awesome. Loved Morgan, she was terrific. I really like Bartleby, Tomas and Mateo, was very sorry about Julian.
The next book is about Eliana and Demetrius and I'm going to give it a try but I'm not even sure I like her. She was so selfish in this book. She knew Demetrius would be killed if he took her out and she didn't even seem to care if he was killed or not as long as she got to go outside. Well, maybe she'll be better in this book.

As to the narrator: There was a time when I said I never wanted to listen to Angela Dawe again then I accidentely bought another one narrated by her and I just couldn't believe it. She did a wonderful job on that book, just as she did on this one. The men's voices were just so damn sexy!!! Keep up the good work, Ms. Dawe..

Narrative

I found that the narrator took to many pauses. To me in story telling, pausing after every sentence slows the flow .When one is in conversation a long pregnant pause after each sentence doesn't happen.

Dark story

A very dark & morose story with a couple love interests thrown in for good measure. This story has some fight scenes and some characters die. Good character, storyline, & plot development.
