Publisher's summary

The story of The First Formic War continues in Earth Awakens.

Nearly 100 years before the events of Orson Scott Card's bestselling novel Ender's Game, humans were just beginning to step off Earth and out into the Solar System. A thin web of ships in both asteroid belts; a few stations; a corporate settlement on Luna. No one had seen any sign of other space-faring races; everyone expected that First Contact, if it came, would happen in the future, in the empty reaches between the stars. Then a young navigator on a distant mining ship saw something moving too fast, heading directly for our sun.

When the alien ship screamed through the solar system, it disrupted communications between the far-flung human mining ships and supply stations, and between them and Earth. So Earth and Luna were unaware that they had been invaded until the ship pulled into Earth orbit, and began landing terra-forming crews in China. Politics and pride slowed the response on Earth, and on Luna, corporate power struggles seemed more urgent than distant deaths. But there are a few men and women who see that if Earth doesn't wake up and pull together, the planet could be lost.

I miss OSC

Aaron Johnston does not write like OSC. Good book, but not the same level as the books Card used to write. I have read a lot of his books and I was hoping he was going to put these books and the final for shadow and ender on his desk this writing all of Enderverse himself.

Really enjoyed it.

Long time fan of all the Ender's game and the rest. Familiar characters but very different, still entertaining story.

First rate Orson Scott Card story

Would you consider the audio edition of Earth Awakens to be better than the print version?

Action never stops and smoothly continues the story with out stopping from book 2 in the series. Orson Scott Card does a great job in holding your interest as he unfolds the events of the first Formic encounters. A must read if you liked Enders Game.

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

multi cast performance - great job by all.

awesome story but flawed performance.

the story Itself by the author is a very interesting and gripping indeed.

Mr. Card increased the knowledge of the Ender Universe with the story which contains a lot of background information to the upcoming Ender stories. the characters were really fleshed out and completely believable and you totally understood the motivations of all of the characters involved.

the performance on the other hand did leave a lot to be desired. Although many of the voices heard we're also in the previous book and the Ender series, The Changing of voice actors for a particular character multiple times through the story was very annoying. I'm not sure if it was a contractual issue or not, but the character of Mazer Rackham had two different voice actors play the part. this continued throughout the entire second half of the storyline. It was hard to get behind the actors when you didn't know if it the voice was going to change and it really threw the story off for me. I prefer Stefan Rudnicki as the voice of Mazer Rackham as well as his other works from the same author. His voice does command respect and does show emotion when it's called for in the story.

I do congratulate all of the voice actors in the story for bringing it to life. All of you did a really fine job thank you for doing so.

If you do enjoy the Ender stories and these prequel stories you will definitely enjoy this one as well.
