NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE directed by Denis Villeneuve, starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Stellan Skarsgård, and Charlotte Rampling

Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Muad'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family—and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction. Frank Herbert's death in 1986 was a tragic loss, yet the astounding legacy of his visionary fiction will live forever.

Beat audio book ever

It was almost perfect in every way. My favorite audiobook this far. 10/10 would recommend.

PLEASE RE-RECORD THIS

Geez. This listen is a journey, and not in a good way...

The audio changes constantly and abruptly between theatrical narration with multiple voice actors, to a single narrator. It's super distracting, clunky, and frustrating. The narrators sound like they recorded in isolated bubbles with no prompts or real back-and-forth dialog.

Dune is already a complicated enough story without multiple voices and odd dialog. PLEASE RE-RECORD THIS.

A must-read classic

One of the best books I’ve ever read, bar none, and the sci-fi novel by which all others are compared. The story is phenomenal and the performance is worthy of the story. I recommend this book to anyone who has never read a sci-fi book. I hope it hooks you into the genre as it did me.

Great audiobook but poor filing

Splitting up the book into only 3 7-8 hour tracks is silly. There's no way to jump around the book. Audible lost my place in the book and it took forever for me to scroll around to find my place.

A master performance

I have read and re-read Dune many times, I enjoyed this production more than I had anticipated from the sample. I recommend this to anyone who loves the tale of Dune.

Presently

I love the book, the story, the characters, almost everything.

excepting the author's overuse of the word "presently". That gets on my nerves every time I read or hear this story.

amazing story well worth the read

I loved it and have read it multiple times, there's some issues with the voice acting like the barron has 3 different voices in the reading and some other people forget their roles but apart from that well worth the read!

Best for a long drive

It's a classic. The performances are a little mixed up because they use a cast for some parts and the narrator for the rest. Overall, excellent.

Pretty darn good.

I think that a number of the reviews are overly harsh. Excellent production. Voices are not confusing. Ok maybe slightly abridged. But - 20 hrs in this form. Give it a chance- you will very likely enjoy it.

Loved the book, performance a bit quirky.

Overall I really enjoyed the book. I've enjoyed this story across many media formats. This rendition is good but comes with quirks. In particular, I would sometimes get distracted when the voice of a character changed. It felt like they had 2 teams working on the book and they split the work. You'll be able to hear the transitions fairly easily. They can also come in what I would consider to be the same scene of the story. Still recommended though!
