NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE directed by Denis Villeneuve, starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Stellan Skarsgård, and Charlotte Rampling

Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Muad'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family—and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction. Frank Herbert's death in 1986 was a tragic loss, yet the astounding legacy of his visionary fiction will live forever.

I've read the book at least 3 times, but listening to the audible version really brought the book to life.

great slow building story

I enjoyed the story, I felt the author could have expanded on the battles. The majority of them felt as though they were because they had to be. The one on one fights were detailed much more appropriately.
I did not enjoy having more than one narrator, it created a break in the flow. There are a few instances where a secondary narrator would use the same voice as another character and I would be confused for a moment, which would distract me from the story.
Overall great story, narrating was 8 out of 10.

Hard to keep up with inconsistent voice actors

This was a fantastic production. It was the first audiobook I’ve heard use several voice actors to represent different characters. Unfortunately, the voices you associate with various characters change from scene to scene — it’s hard to break that association and often requires you to rewind in order to understand who is speaking.

Excellent book minus a small production error

I love this story and while I don’t think I can add anything of value to it’s description that hasn’t already been said, I do have a small problem with this particular reading. Some characters seemingly had different narrators throughout the book. The most jarring example I can think of is Duke Harkonnen. There were sections where his voice would quite noticeably be very different. And not just between instances of his appearance but once or twice changing in the middle of a conversation. I found it to be somewhat confusing. Otherwise, great book and very well read!

The Spice Must Flow

A great reading of a Sci-Fi classic. The voices are sometimes read by the narrator, sometimes read by the extra cast. The volume of the cast readings is a bit louder, which means it is sometimes startling. Do not let this stop you from enjoying this book though, it's a great tale filled with intrigue, prophecy, religion, warfare, politics, and more!

Walk without rhythm and you won't attract the worm.
