Audie Award winner, 2008

NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE directed by Denis Villeneuve, starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Stellan Skarsgård, and Charlotte Rampling

Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Muad'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family—and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction. Frank Herbert's death in 1986 was a tragic loss, yet the astounding legacy of his visionary fiction will live forever.

Mental

A very good production of a story that is as much political intrigue as it is science fiction. Though verbiage sometimes makes note of the fact it was originally written over half a century ago there is nothing else that dates the story. Truly a masterpiece.

classic book, performed well

I normally prefer a single or paired narrator audiobook but this was done well and Dune is one of the great classics.

Fantastic Story is blemished by jarring reading

Dune may be the best Science Fiction novel. The characters are beautifully written, the setting is beyond believe and the story is unparalleled. But the audio performance was horrendous. It seems to be a mash up of multiple different readings. Some chapters have different actors for each character, some exclusively use a narrator and others some how switch between these two options mid conversation. had I not read this book already many parts would have been impossible to understand.
Dune deserves better.

Best narration/acting

It's hard to follow at first, lots of terms to remember. Once you start getting a hang of it, it's quite fun listen. Most I've the conversations in the audiobook are acted out by various narrators. The different voices made it easy to know who said what. I wish more books had this narrating style.

Love it

The story is great! I tried listening to it at first but couldn't really get into it, then I watched the movie and had a better visualization of it. I wish how ever they kept the voice acting consistent I was almost lost a couple of times.

Spice must flow!

I absolutely loved the story, And I can see why it influenced Sci-Fi. The blend of something familiar but so strange is truly awe-inspiring. I wish they brought the voice actors of Paul and the other key characters into more chapters rather than reserving them on a few chapters.

Narration makes the story come alive!

In other reviews, this narration is considered abridged and incomplete. I can’t speak to this because I haven’t read this book since high school.

The narration makes the story come alive! There is some discrepancy in continuity between the actors that voice the different characters; it is a little disconcerting. If one can ignore that, overall this narration is throughly enjoyable.

Great Production

Do not be swayed by all the ridiculous negative reviews stating multiple confusing narrators make this unenjoyable. It’s truly a top notch listen with an incredible story.
