NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE directed by Denis Villeneuve, starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Stellan Skarsgård, and Charlotte Rampling

Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Muad'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family—and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction. Frank Herbert's death in 1986 was a tragic loss, yet the astounding legacy of his visionary fiction will live forever.

I struggled with the foreign words in the hardcopy, so I switched to the audio book, and it really helped me get in to it. excellent pacing, terrific story, can't wait to read the sequels

An epic story told well. With one odd decision.

It's an incredible vision of the future with plenty of action, intrigue and obligatory giant sand worms. They put together a marvelous cast to help bring the story to life.

The only issue I had was that despite having female cast members, someone chose to give the role of Chani to the main narrator (male). It's really odd to hear her lines when they sound like an elderly man talking about being 15 yr old Paul's concubine to Jessica (Paul's mother) played by a woman.

almost perfect

is actually abridged, so it loses a star for that. The performance is great but I hate how it switches back and forth, I wish it was just the narrator or the actors not both, I can follow whose who its just annoying.

Magnificently done

First audio that had a true voice cast that I’ve purchased. Very well done. The cast was so much better than the ones in the movies. Worth purchasing.

Amazing story. Jarring voice acting

A coworker recommended me to read dune due to the movie releasing soon. so i decided to buy the audible. The first minutes listening to it hookied me in. that is untill the transitions between the voice actors and the narrator.

Its seems that the producers wanted the actors to only voice important dramatic scenes, but have the narrator do the rest. its pretty jarring considering listening to pauls actor with lady jessicas actor talking together but then have the narrator come in and continue the same scene voicing both of them because the context was not so important.

Great story, voice acting so-so

I enjoyed the story immensely but found it strange that the voice acting wasn't consistent. One chapter would just be the narrator doing all the characters and the next would be the full cast. Also the pronunciation of the name of the people of Arrakis would randomly change back and forth throughout the book.

Top Tier Book, Top Tier Performance

Dune is a book I keep revisiting over and over again. This audiology allowed me to experience the story in a new way. Incredible performance by the voice actors and exceptional job by the sound designers.
