NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE directed by Denis Villeneuve, starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Stellan Skarsgård, and Charlotte Rampling

Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Muad'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family—and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction. Frank Herbert's death in 1986 was a tragic loss, yet the astounding legacy of his visionary fiction will live forever.

amazing terminal for your imagination

this book reads like a movie in your mind. I was able to finish it in three days and find myself wanting to listen to it again. I have seen the 1984 version of this book and am about to see the current version coming out and I and both thrilled and elated to find how they each stuck to the authors descriptive paintbrush. great for a long ride or even better when you have some downtime.

Excellent on nearly every level.

It is a masterful book and very well read and performed. It is a touch confusing if you’re not familiar with the book or listen closely to know that sometimes the narrator is doing the voice of a particular character and sometimes that character is voiced by another actor. Barring that inconsistency it is wonderfully done.

A timeless classic

I can never say enough about this book, is a timeless classic and can stand on its own. I wanted to get thru this book before the movie can't out this week, it would be fun to see the adaptation but frankly I am not holding out much hope for it.

My favorite science fiction series of all time!

What could be said about Dune that hasn't been said already? Frank Herbert sets up a rich, unique universe in this first of many books in the series. I find myself very invested in the characters of the story, and upon finishing this book, you'll be absolutely rabid for the next, and the ones after that. All around, an amazing book to kick off an incredible series from beginning to end!

Excellent narration

So I’ve seen a fair number of people disappointed with the style of narration; however, the multiple voice actors resulted in an engaging experience much like a radio program. The story itself was equally pleasant to listen to, this might be one of the older SCI Fi novels I’ve read and I can certainly see how Dune inspired many stories to follow.

Narrartion was choppy

Overall great story but I am not sure why they decided to use multiple narrators for part of the book and other parts decided to just use one. It was really distracting.

Exceeded all expectations

I finally understood what all the fuss was about. Fantastic story. The audiobook performance captured my imagination and interest in a way that the book might not have.

Accents

I found the Fremen accent to be very distractive and unnecessary, but otherwise, as always, Dune is a classic tale.
