I read other reviews and it almost made me not purchase this book. after reading this book, I was very pleased to find out all the over exaggeration put into the previous reviews. I loved the characters. the story, however, did seem to have some gaps that was kind of "cut to the chase".
Despite what some have said...this book is not bad at all. I've read some people complained about sexual encounters in this book. I found there to be very few. Overall, the book was just as enjoyable as the first one was. I plan to keep going in this series.
Wow, so well written I feel apart of every scene,
it draws you in, and you listen to every word, and the derek perkins reading of this book is right on the mark.
looking forward to book 3.
This was an awesome book two. It showed me that even writers understand that guys will be guys no matter the environment or circumstance. Whether friend or rival. The interactions of the male and female characters feels very realistic to me, and that added to the storytelling aspects.
Great story. I look forward to Book 3.
I don't understand what everyone is saying about too much sex. There's only one time anyone actually has sex and there is zero description of it. There is a bit of grinding and people getting turned on but I'm not one that enjoys that kind of thing (didn't like game of thrones) and it didn't really bother me with what was here. That being said I thought it was a good story. It's a little formula, which is to say highly predictable. It follows basic fantasy novel archetypes but overall the characters are interesting and the storytelling is well done.
it was nice to see Mr. Anderson tackle high fantasy with a mature audience in mind.. i look at all these reviews and see half the crowd taking about there being too much sex in the book like its some smutty romance novel, there were four sexual situations in the whole story and none of them were very explicit or particularly long., such a tiresome and doll complaint for a truly good fantasy novel and I'm pretty sure a lot of young adults are sexually active anyway! so when i see comments like not young adult i think people really mean not for children and i would hope not when the series backdrop is set in a world at war and is pretty damn violent.
what makes a good fiction novel is knowing what your reading is not real but having it grounded in realistic situations. It's even more important in epic fantasy and this story mixes some ugly truths of life in very well, giving it a lot more substance the Author tackles hard subjects in a tasteful way by implying atrocities like genocide and rape making his villainous characters even more repugnant but not making me squirm through the gritter bits...
great story, great narration ...five stars all around...The Godling Chronicles were okay but this series has made me a fan, cant wait for the next installment!
I love the book 1 comma as a teacher I always listen to books prior to introducing them in the classroom unfortunately after listening to go to with the profanity it is unable to be used with middle schoolers. the book is pretty good with the exception of the profanity which is so unnecessary
The Dragonvein series is an an enjoyable story thus far. There are parts of the story that feel rushed and at times I think I have missed a part of the story only to realize it just skips to the next scene. Derek Perkins is so amazing he could probably read a recipe book and I would still listen to it. These books come out fairly quickly and after waiting years on end for Patrick Rothfus to give us The Stone Door, I've come to appreciate the thousands of authors like Anderson who write a thrilling trilogy in a timely manner.
this book was an awesome sequel on the storyline very invigorating and attention grabbing I have always liked Brian D Anderson and I look forward to reading the third in the series
Solid story and interesting characters. Voice actor excellent, same as the last. Already bought next in series.
"Continues to get better."
This book continues to build on book 1 and bring the story along. It is a very good fantacey, I can't wait to find out what happens in the next book. I now will add Mr Anderrson to my must read authors. If you like the description of this book you must listen to book 1 first.
this is a brilliant audiobook really good back story and awesome action also I can't wait for the third book to come out it's going to be really good action packed there's a lot of comedy in this book and some sad part butt It really good book
Only heard him in Dragonvein Book one - he was pretty good in both but I found his American accents not quite up to his other characters.
I enjoyed this and book one but thought that book three was going to be the end of the series. Now I realise there are others to come so will probably stop here. Bit fed up with fantasy writers who seem to think that endless series are a good idea.
