Love

This has been one of my favorite books for a very long time. When I was younger I didn't like to read. The when I became a teenager I finally figured out a genre I liked. This series was the 1st books I decided to read for myself and learned to love the written word because of them

Been reading Pern stories since I was a kid

Now that I’m older and have to do laundry, dishes, cooking etc etc it’s nice to listen when I can’t sit and read.

I have been reading and rereading her books as old friends for years and will continue to do so. my only regret is I don't have a full set of her Dragon books.

Great story

At first, I thought I wouldn’t like this audiobook, but it drew me in with the characters troubles, and how she would’ve overcome them, and how she struggles to overcome them and she doesn’t just brute force through it. She’s pulled up by the people around her, and she makes friends.

Great Introduction to Anne McCaffrey

My daughter loved the Dragonsinger series. She's not quite old enough to read the rest of the series, but this was a great introduction to a wonderful fantasy author.

So satisfying

Finally you have McCaffrey unabridged. All I can say is I want more if not all her books, unabridged. I would get everyone of them.

Much improved by adjusting the speed to 1.25x

If you could sum up Dragonsong: Harper Hall Trilogy, Volume 1 in three words, what would they be?

Adorable fire lizards.

What did you like best about this story?

Fire lizards of course.

How could the performance have been better?

A completely different narrator.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Have read it before so not really.

Any additional comments?

This is a great story but the narrator is horrible. She reads at an excruciatingly slow pace punctuated by a lengthy pause at the end of each sentence, it's ridiculous. However, I did find that turning the speed up to 1.25x helped quite a bit. After making that adjustment I was able to stop gritting my teeth and enjoy the story.
