Publisher's summary

"Gray dragons are different, my son. It means you must be careful; your skin will be pierced more easily. But on the other hand, having no hunger for gems and gold will allow you to live in the Upper World and far from men."

High in the mountains, deep in the safety of a cave, a brood of dragons is born. The four young ones are among the last of a dying breed - the final hope for dragons' survival. But hope shatters when a murderous group of slave-trading dwarves breaks into the cave, leaving death and destruction in its wake.

Only young Auron, a rare scaleless gray dragon, manages to escape. Armed with nothing save wit, claws, and a boundless determination to survive, he seeks his kind. But to find other dragons - or at least discover who's killing them off - Auron will have to search a world of mercenary elves, vicious humans, and dangers of all kinds. Winning allies in the strangest places - and finding himself along the way - Auron embarks on the journey of a thousand-year lifetime.

The best dragon series

Love the Age of Fire series so much. I’ve read and listened to this series more times than I can count. Extremely well done and by far my favorite dragon series.

Intriguing, but the writing was not for me

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes, especially of the Young Adult section. The way this book was written and the stories and characters left as loose ends were frustrating to me. I prefer deeper writing, but the overall story is interesting. Anyone not looking for that deep connection to the characters but wants an interesting dragon story that's not the usual, you'll have a fun journey.

Only the fittest are worthy

Would you try another book from E. E. Knight and/or David Drummond?

Yes, I have plans to continue with EE Knights sequels in the future. The story was good and who doesn't love dragons and other mythical creatures.

Would you recommend Dragon Champion to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes, I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Sci-fi Fantasy Epic Novels. Especially ones who have the potential to grow into a great series.

What three words best describe David Drummond’s performance?

Brilliant, Dramatic, and Clear-Worded.

Could you see Dragon Champion being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I feel this could be turned into a great Disney or Pixar animated movie easily.
Any person involved in Hobbit or Lord of the Rings could voice over the characters easily.

Dragon POC

Excellent Dragon Story. I don't usually go for Point of View from a creature but this was well worth the listen.

To unoriginal & drawn out, but interesting :/

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Interest, but frustration & bordom too.

Any additional comments?

This is a coming of age story about Dragons, from the Dragons perspective, in a fantacy world.

Cut the book in half & it would be great :}

BAD PARTS: #1 The races are nothing new & add nothing new or interesting about them [human, dwarf, elf, ect].
#2 The story in over described & has tomuch nothing filler, that only draws the story out.

GOOD PARTS: #1 Interesting take on Dragons.
#2 When the story isn't drawn out it's good & interesting :}
#3 Good character interplay.

Excellent Pacing - great beach read

The story moves steadily, I never got bored wondering when Auron would move on to the next arc. Ending was full circle and satisfying. Loved the themes of loss, life, love, friendship, and war.
