Publisher's summary

The TARDIS materialises on board the maiden voyage of a pioneering space cruiser, travelling from Earth to the planet Eternity. The Doctor has just started exploring the huge, hi-tech Interstitial Transposition Vehicle when there is a loud bang, a massive jolt, and a flash of light. Shortly afterwards, he discovers that nearly all the passengers and crew have disappeared. Unless the Doctor and flight attendant Sugar MacAuley can take control and steer the ship, they could crash-land or keep slipping through space forever. And as if that wasn't enough, something awful awaits them on Eternity.

Written exclusively for audio by Dan Abnett and read by David Tennant, The Last Voyage features the Doctor as played by David Tennant in the acclaimed hit series from BBC Television.

My favourite so far!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I already did because to my mind it is the best written Tenth Doctor audio book story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Sugar MacAuley, she seems to be very curageous and street smart. She is an ordinary girl, raised to be extraordinary by her acquaintance with the Doctor. A bit like Rose Tyler, really.

What does David Tennant bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Oh, so much!! He is a very good reader. He builds up the atmosphere with his voice and he brings colour to the characters by giving them all different accents. He has a warm, musical voice and his sligthly reigned in Scottish accent is beautiful. He is brilliant and I would always prefer his voice narrating to simply reading a book myself.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and I actually did! More than once! ;-)

favorite doctor read by favorite doctor

David Tennant is already a fabulous narrator and even acts his part as the tenth Doctor as if it were a hidden special during his run on the show. The story feels like it takes place in before the final story arch of Tennant's run and could have easily been the first draft of the Titanic episode, Voyage of the Damned. If you enjoyed this era of Doctor Who you will enjoy Doctor Who: The Last Voyage.

Great Listen! David

Where does Doctor Who rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One the top of my list so far.

What other book might you compare Doctor Who to and why?

Hard to say, just an adventure science fiction book. I can't think of anything right now.

Which character – as performed by David Tennant – was your favorite?

He did them all, Rose & The Doctor

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes!

Any additional comments?

I have enjoyed all the Dr Who audio books, very well done narration from David Tennant. I hope audio books adds more Dr. Who adventures, based on the 10th doctor.

Absolutely worth a listening

It was definitely one of the more scary Doctor who stories, but it was well written and it had some great twists - and hearing a doctor who adventure read by an actual doctor, that is just ising on a chocolate cake
