Publisher's Summary

Dan Starkey reads this original novel featuring the 12th Doctor and Clara, as played in the BBC TV series by Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman.

The Phaeron travelled among the stars using roads made from time and space but left only relics behind when they disappeared over a million years ago. But what actually happened to the Phaeron?

In the far future, humans discover the last Phaeron road - and the Doctor and Clara join the mission to see where it leads. Each member of the team knows exactly what they're looking for - but only the Doctor knows exactly what they'll find.

Because only the Doctor knows the true secret of the Phaeron: a secret so terrible and powerful that it must be buried in the deepest grave imaginable....

A complete and unabridged reading by Dan Starkey, who plays Strax the Sontaran in the BBC TV series.

    "Great story"

I really enjoyed this book I recommend it to any Doctor Who fan. I felt like I was watching the TV show. The narrator did a fantastic job and I would listen to any of his books in the future. Thanks for a great book

"Give it a couple of chapters"

At first, I was annoyed at the voice of the Doctor., but after a short time, I forgot it was not Peter Capaldi! Then, I was immersed in the quality Doctor Who story. Complex and nuanced., it is worthy of a BBC episode.

    "First audio book."

I loved this book. The narrator did an amazing job imitating voices. His impersonation of the Doctor was terrific. It felt and sounded just like an episode of Doctor Who. I'll be buying the audio in the future.

    "Wonderful performance, ok story."

Dan Starkey elevated this from an ok read to a fun adventure. His Peter Capaldi is spot on and makes you forget you're not actually hearing him.

    "Not a happy story"
What would have made Doctor Who: Deep Time better?

Some humor and a lot fewer gruesome deaths and discoveries. It was becoming like "Friday the 13th" after a while. Also, it never explained how the ship could disappear over a century ago and have the adult child of the captain without the adult child being over 100 years old.

What was most disappointing about Trevor Baxendale’s story?

Doctor Who may normally have a lot of alien death, and occasional human death as well, but it usually also has some humor and what appears to be a story that is more than just "death comes to Deep Time". I thought there were a few elements that made it more than a one star read but so far this has been my least favorite Doctor Who audiobook.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Dan Starkey?

Someone who could do both Clara and the Doctor's Scottish accent.

What character would you cut from Doctor Who: Deep Time?

Marco was driving me crazy. He careened from sleazeball to psychopath to a person with mommy issues.

    Any additional comments?

The story could have been good, there was possibility. The plot was okay, it just didn't have the right story built around it if that makes sense.

    "hard to get into"

I feel like this story was hard to get into. As I listened to the story I wanted to care about what was happening but sadly I just didn't. it wasn't a bad story just wasn't a great story. if you have time to kill and no other doctor who to listen to then go for it

    "Brilliant performance from Dan Starkey"

Very well performed Audio Book. Pleasure to listen to. Dan really captures The Doctor and Clara in his performance. Sometimes you'd think Peter Capaldi was doing the voice.
Story is engaging and clever. Would have easily made a great episode of the TV show with its great pace, clever plot elements and a great villain in The Glamour.
Definitely worth reading or listening to.
