Publisher's summary

The TARDIS materialises on board the maiden voyage of a pioneering space cruiser, travelling from Earth to the planet Eternity. The Doctor has just started exploring the huge, hi-tech Interstitial Transposition Vehicle when there is a loud bang, a massive jolt, and a flash of light. Shortly afterwards, he discovers that nearly all the passengers and crew have disappeared. Unless the Doctor and flight attendant Sugar MacAuley can take control and steer the ship, they could crash-land or keep slipping through space forever. And as if that wasn't enough, something awful awaits them on Eternity.

Written exclusively for audio by Dan Abnett and read by David Tennant, The Last Voyage features the Doctor as played by David Tennant in the acclaimed hit series from BBC Television.

Fun Listen - Good Narrator

David Tennant does a a great job of reading this audiobook and keeping the listener interested and guessing what is going to happen next. We get the Doctor that we know and love, and yet we are not overloaded with so many sub-characters that we lose the storyline. Mr. Tennant's vocal range is fun to listen to, as is his voice in general, but with this performance there is a definite distinction between who is whom so the listener isn't left guessing whom is speaking at any one time. I appreciated this, as sometimes it is difficult to distinguish between characters with some readers.

I recommend this audiobook for Doctor Who fans. It is fun, mysterious and a great listen in the car.

The Tennant Factor

If you could sum up Doctor Who: The Last Voyage in three words, what would they be?

Tennant exhilarates, entertains!

Which character – as performed by David Tennant – was your favorite?

The Doctor, of course.

Any additional comments?

David Tennant could read the dictionary and it would be an Audible best seller.

Story line is Steven King rip off

Think "Langoliers" transposed into the Whoniverse.

Other than that, it was a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.

New Whovian can't get enough of the Doctor...

What did you love best about Doctor Who?

I'm relatively new to the Who universe and when I found out there were audiobook novels available I became interested. I downloaded a couple of them to listen to as I work around my house (when I can't WATCH Doctor Who episodes) and I must say I am greatly pleased. It maintained the feel of the show and helped me imagine a fantastic vision of the story. I will definitely be getting more Doctor audiobooks.

What other book might you compare Doctor Who to and why?

There IS NO comparing The Doctor!

What about David Tennant’s performance did you like?

I was very excited to see that my favorite Doctor was narrating his own tale. I was not disappointed either. Mr. Tennant did a fantastic job and I can't wait to listen to him narrate another tale.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not Necessarily.

Highly Recommend!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you're a fan of Doctor Who you'll be a fan of this book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Doctor Who: The Last Voyage?

The ambiant sounds. The first time I tried to listen to this book I was trying to fall alseep. That did not happen due to the intense creepyness of the bakground noice. It's subtle and gets under the skin in that good way that a good scary moment does.

What does David Tennant bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

If you're a fan of the show than having any book read by the actual actor who portrayed The Doctor is always a plus! Tennant brings what he brought ot the show to this book. I had no complaints. I'd be happy listening to him read me the phone book.

Any additional comments?

Definately a winner of a book. It's well written, the story is solid, the reading is magnificant and the ambiant sounds in the background really make it pop in my memory as a whoppoing good listen. I honestly don't think I would have enjoyed this as much on paper as I did on audio.

Interesting twist on a story I love

Have you listened to any of David Tennant’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I love listening to David Tennant and listening to him be The Doctor is the best ever.

Any additional comments?

I have to love the homage to "The Langoliers" it even has the creepy monsters with the giant sharp teeth.

My favorite!

This was the 1st Doctor Who story I got, and I love it. David Tennant is so talented, not only as the Doctor, but as all the other characters he gives a voice to. Different accents for all of them. The story is also very good. Took me a couple of listens to understand what was going on, but it wasn’t frustrating. That’s what makes a good story; something that captures your interest, and just gets better the more times you listen to it.

Funnier than I expected.

The most amusing part was David Tennant switching back and forth between his Scottish accent and his Doctor voice. The story is good with several funny lines. If you are a fan of the 10th Doctor I definitely recommend it.
