As sentient foam and weed combine to frightening effect, it soon becomes clear that the danger emanates from beneath the sea. Can that really be a heartbeat coming from deep inside the refinery pipes? Will the Doctor and his friends be in time to prevent an entire take-over of Earth - and will they all escape with their lives? First broadcast in 1968, "Fury from the Deep" is the last story to feature Deborah Watling as the Doctor's companion, Victoria. Long missing from the television archives, it is regarded as a classic adventure from the era of the Second Doctor.

"Salty Seaweed Terror !!!!"
I remember this story from my childhood. The black & white television images seemed to enhance the creeping fear of the seaweed creatures. I can honestly say that I have never looked at seaweed since without thinking of this story. The performances of the cast are excellent. Building up the menace of the unknown enemy to climatic ending. The whole story is immensly atmospheric and is in my mind a classic of the Patrick Troughton era. Doctor Who fans will not be disapointed, this is from the days when kids watched from behind pillows and the sofa!!!!
"Poorly encoded by Audible"
Yes. The audio version is the only way of getting these, and this one has an extra bonus of the BBC link announcer.
The first appearance of the sonic screwdriver.
It's the only way to read this! Original audio as broadcast.
Disappointment, but only at Audible's preparation of the file.
The chapters do not match the episodes, and a means of skipping the continuity announcer and next episode preview would have been appreciated. Nice to hear it, but it does drop you out of the fantasy.
