"david tennant is an ace narrator"

DT flows from narrating in his native scottish accent to the perfect clipped doctor & even all the additional characters are well done & easily recognisable.
all his doctor who stories are great & i recommend for dr who fans, young listeners (over 8 & with an adult as some are quite scary!) and anyone who likes a good romp. his characterisation of rose & mickey in the earlier stories is delightful.
my only complaint is the slightly OTT sound effects in this story - not necessary & quite scary (yup i'm a scaredy-cat!)

    you'll be missed DT

"this audio book is just one of the best!!!!"

Having it narrated by David Tennant was great. He did different voices for each character. And the sound effects were great. I have alway love doctor who the tv show. But listening to an audio book of doctor who was as good as watching it on tv. I listened to most of the story in one listen. I could not turn it off. The writer of this doctor who story did a great job. So i gave this audio book 5 out of 5 and i cant wait till i listen to more doctor who audio books.

    "Can't beat Tennant as Who"

I, of course, love David Tennant as Dr. Who; the light spirit with a somber heart. This book is reflective of that, as well as being a pretty darn good mystery. I'm writing this over a year after listening to it and the story still remains fresh in my memory. If you are a David Tennant/Dr. Who fan, I think you will thoroughly enjoy this book.

    "Very engaging listening experience"

I've listened to a few of the Doctor Who audio books and I really enjoyed this one, the extra attention to the sound effects while listening really added some extra depth to the experience. David Tennant does such a great job narrating, looking forward to listening to his others as well as Matt's.

    "Loved It!"

In the fine tradition of juvenile novels written by the likes of Heinlein, it was a fast, entertaining and easy to follow book. David Tennant's reading of it made it all the more believable. From the bits where he is playing the Doctor to the narrations where his regional accent becomes more pronounced he is a skillful orator.

    Story
    "Good Buildup, Meh Conclusion"
Would you try another book from Simon Messingham and/or David Tennant?

While I didn't really feel satisfied with this story, I think Messingham might pull it off better in another work, and David Tennant's rich brogue is just dripping with creepy atmosphere.

What could Simon Messingham have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

It needed more tie-in to the food crisis and a more dynamic conclusion. The fairy tale aspect turned out to be kind of superfluous, just empty forshadowing fluff, and none of the problems heavily hinted at in the earlier portion tied into the monster's defeat.

What does David Tennant bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

David Tennant's every word is infused with the cold mist of a haunted moor.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

This made me feel a bit disappointed, because the subplots didn't go anywhere.

    Any additional comments?

    Good creepy premise, bad follow-up.

    Story
"One of my favorite Doctor Who Audio Books"
What did you love best about Doctor Who?

This story was engaging right from the start. I loved the humanity of the storyline, and the contrast of The Doctor.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The Doctor is always the easy answer, but Katie and Petra were right up there. They were both very relate-able, and written in a way that rang true which I felt gave the rest of the story credibility.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The end. No spoilers, but it was great.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed a few times, and definitely smiled a lot. I found the book very engaging, as part of that it did make me sad in parts as well. It had a good ending though!

    Any additional comments?

I'm not sure why this book has gotten some lower reviews than other Doctor Who Audio books, of the ones I have listened to thus far I think it's my favorite!

    "Mindless fun..."

I love Doctor Who, I mean who doesn't want to travel in a time machine and between different planets... David Tennant's narration is fun and while we didn't hear his Scottish accent on the show very often, it was a nice touch for the Doctor to have.

"At least it is read by David Tennant"

Another pretty dumb book. David Tennant is such a good reader however that he does make it somewhat entertaining.
