rosalyn landor was a poor choice

rosalyn landor was a poor choice ahe obviously has no familiarity with the world and why in the nine hells would you give a drow an Irish accent?

Excellent

Enjoyed the story very much. Somehow the author makes the drow as wicked as ever, yet you can almost sympathize with them… almost

Great story, performance so-so

The story is great. I read it many years ago and was really looking forward to the audio edition. Sadly the narrator is very lacking. The random British accents are extremely distracting. The character voices are also inconsistent making it very difficult to tell the difference between certain characters at times.

Very Satisfying Book About Drow Society

I recently listened to the first trilogy about Drizzt Do' Urden. I really enjoyed the books but by the third book I missed the setting of the Underdark and Drow society. So I was excited when I discovered this set of books. I was taken back into the Underdark and backstabbing Drow society, the narration is great and the storyline is satisfying and easy enough to follow. I am just finishing the second book now and I think I'll end up making it through the whole series.

Good start to a series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you like D&D, then you will absolutely love this book. It has a wide variety of demons and creatures that will light up your imagination.

What does Rosalyn Landor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I believe Rosalyn's performance is very good for the most part. Sometimes the voices sound similar, but I enjoyed the book very much.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I usually listen to the book while commuting to work and back.

I hate creating titles so ... Drow!

Any additional comments?

This book was pretty much what I expected it to be; a look into the Drow world. Of all the fantasy races from Forgotten Realms, the Drow are my favorite and I enjoyed listening to this voice actor tell the story.

If you are looking for a thought provoking story? Forgotten Realms books aren't for you. If you are looking for a good fantasy story with lots of action and weird races, check one of them out.

The Seedy Underbelly

If you have read any of the Salvatore tales involving the Drow, then you already know that they are an unpleasant bunch. Imagine an entire city of female J. R. Ewings and that almost comes close. This matriarchy is well known for being chaotic and just plain nasty. Their current problem resides in the fact that Lolth has shut off her blessings. That leaves the female clerics in a tight spot. It will be fun to watch this unfold.

The narration was fine. Very fitting for a woman to be the voice here. Although I do find it interesting where she decides to apply a Scottish accent.
