Great Fantasy - Heavy Magic

Great performance. The story deals heavily with magic for better or worse depending on taste.

a decent read

it was a fun reintroduction to the Drow underdark. I was not overly impressed but I enjoyed it. I just wish the female characters were as interesting as the men.

Great Story but I Preferred Reading It

I read this story a couple decades ago and really enjoyed it. The plotting ways of the drow is on full display in this side series. The mystery element is something less explored in the FR books, so the sleuthing too is welcome.

The narration is very good but doesn’t fit the series. Going from an American male narrator to an English female makes for a jarring change. Established characters sound and are performed quite differently, and not something I could really embrace. Were this change to occur in Daughter of the Drow, with less familiar characters and a true female lead character, it would have been better. However, the fault lies with the publisher, NOT the narrator. If someone cast Taylor Swift to play Stevie Wonder in a biographical film it wouldn’t be her fault.

Great!

Great from start to finish. I can't not recommend this book enough. Characters have depth and goals. The plot has a clear path as it occurs but not able to be predicted. Worth any readers time.

Good series, average narration

I'll preface this with saying that I've listened to a lot of different narrators. Rosalyn Landor was pretty average. Good book and good series delving into drow society, but if you're looking for exciting narration, you'll be disappointed.

Great story, miserable narration

Annoying voices for the characters. Sometimes gets the voice wrong during dialogue and it’s confusing because until you figure out which character was supposed to be speaking.

Story itself is great, when you can ignore the narrator... Overall vaguely disappointed but still going to listen to her reading the next five books, so... yeah.

Another great story

I love this story, it gives a close look at the Drow race and a detailed explanation of their culture and very interesting characters.
