Publisher's summary

Harry Dresden, Chicago's only practicing professional wizard, should be happy that business is pretty good for a change. But he also knows that whenever things are going good, the only way left for them to go is bad. Way bad. Recent examples: A duel with the lethal champion of the Red Court, who must kill Harry to end the war between vampires and wizards...Hit men using Harry for target practice...The missing Shroud of Turin - and the possible involvement of Chicago's most feared mob boss...A handless and headless corpse the Chicago police need identified...Not to mention the return of Harry's ex-girlfriend Susan, who's still struggling with her semi-vampiric nature - and who seems to have a new man in her life. Some days, it just doesn't pay to get out of bed. No matter how much you're charging.

Featured Article: The top 100 series of all time

The feeling of discovering that your favorite new listen is actually the start of a series is euphoric. That you can immediately hit play and re-enter a beloved new world, or love story, or era from history is a gift to the devoted listener. But how to pick just 100 of these unique and immersive listening journeys? We defined a series as having a minimum of three books, and—after some debate—we decided the titles had to be anchored in fiction. From YA to horror to historical fiction, from fresh voices to seminal tales, hours of discovery await.

James Marsters

The performance that Mr. Marsters delivers makes this an even more fantastic read! He makes the characters come to life by giving them their own voices.

Love it

The Dresden series is one of my favorites. The humor brings a smile and the wizard, well he's no Harry Potter, even if his name is Harry. James Masters is just how I image Harry Dresden to sound.

Dresden picking up

Dresden Files keep getting more engaging by the book. Adventures and melodrama blend better and more intensely once the characters are developed and familiar to the returning reader.

Chicago's least appreciated Wizard battles Ol Nic

Many mainstream theater releases during summer always tend to go big. The Earth is in jeopardy, next week, the Solar System or the Galaxy, or the entire multiverse. Blah, blah, blah.

What I like most about Jim Butcher's Dresden files is how intimate and gut-wrenching they can be.

Very enjoyable

Love James Marsters voice. Story was a bit more convoluted and confusing than usual. Not one of my favorites in this series.
