Full of laugh out loud humor

I'm late on reading this series they've been out for a long while now. I've seen the series it was pretty good, but the books are really much better. There are probably thousands of reviews so I won't elaborate too much, I'll just say if your thinking about starting this series you will laugh out loud at some of the things Sookie Stackhouse thinks or does. Easy listen and the performance was A plus!!

So far, so fun!!

I am on the 4th book of the Sookie Stackhouse series! This really is great writing meets the best voice narrator for this character! So much fun! But.. I do get a bit of male part envy from these Vamps! 😆😄😆

Good Riddance, Bill!

The lack of Bill in this one made it the best in the series so far.

Fantastic performance of Sookie Stackhouse Series

Where does Dead to the World rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Great! I read the first three but I'm having problems holding books steady to read, so I decided on the audio book for #4 in the series, and I was NOT disappointed. It's eerie how much Johanna Parker and Anna Paquin from the True Blood series voice Sookie almost identical. Ms. Parker is considerably less convincing with the male voices as she's has a very high timbre in her voice. Not her fault, she does very well with the tools at her disposal, I've just heard more alto female narrators bring more life into the male voices in the story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dead to the World?

The witch / were / vamp battle. The descriptions of the smells and the magic and the chaos and blood just drew you into the room, full of combat, magical fog and rain. It was a fantastically written climax to the book.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Alcide abjured Debbie Pelt. I didn't see it coming, but it was long overdue. While the plots of the books and the HBO series haven't been identical, they certainly have a common and central theme of "what comes around, goes around". With that said, I just didn't think that we were going to see an end to Debbie so soon, and the bitch (in both senses of the word) definitely had it comin.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Debbie Pelt shot Sookie, Eric took the bullet, and Sookie blew most of Debbie across the kitchen with a shotgun. While it was predicative that Debbie Pelt would seek her revenge, and her target would be Sookie, the elevation of Sookie to a killer, even if in self defense, has given her a whole new complexity.

Any additional comments?

Looking forward to plenty more from Charlaine Harris.

Delicious, more please.

I just can't get enough of this series. It is hard to find a book that keeps you hanging on the edge of your seat like this one does and Johanna parker is brilliant.

Terrific series keeps getting better and better

This series is a hugely enjoyable supernatural adventure series with a very large serving of romance and with humor sprinkled throughout. Successive books are more enjoyable than the last, as the author adds more supernatural elements to the mix and, at least to this reader, the humor comes out more and more.

The superlative narration by Johanna Parker adds a lot to the enjoyment. She may be the best narrator I’ve heard in the roughly 400 audiobooks I’ve listened to. She’s excellent at giving different characters different voices and conveying their distinct personalities through her voice.

Great listener!

I really enjoyed hearing more of Sookie’s adventures. The performance was amazing! And the writing was superb. I particularly enjoyed that we got to spend more time with Eric. My one gripe with this book is that there are a lot of names to follow. I often found myself wondering who characters were, and when we met them. Overall, a very good listen.

Erik, you big hunk.

Again Sookie is having supernatural problems. Erik shows up in jeans and no memory and Jason winds up missing. What is a gal to do? Well Sookie takes on a coven of witches for one. Lots of great characters and I just love Erik. Both his normal smart ass self and his cursed sweet self. This is my favorite book out of the entire series, but I also like book 7 a lot. I also enjoy the narrator Johanna Parker, in my opinion she does a settle southern accent which I enjoy listening to.
