Fay love

Definitely love this story and the only issue i had in listening was the readers voice for the male characters. I felt as if it took a bit away from the emotions these characters were suppose to stir. Besides that a super good listen.

Love Sookie and Eric!!

I love this series so much that I've listened to it many times. No it is not similar to the True Blood series on TV, but I think it's better. I can't wait to get the next one.

Also, Johanna Parker is really great at her voices for each character. It's a really fun series which I recommend highly.

good

Would you listen to Dead In the Family again? Why?

Probably since i already listen to it once its gonna be awhile before i listen to it again. I wanna listen to the next book after this one and finish it.

Would you recommend Dead In the Family to your friends? Why or why not?

I would recommend this to a few friends only if they read the books before this because its not easy to catch up on what happened from the past.

Have you listened to any of Johanna Parker’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No i haven,t but i would be glad to find out what are the other books she narrated other than the Sookie Stackhouse series.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

An enjoyable read

Some complain that there is too much focus on other characters' families, but considering this is a series of stories, I expect that all this info is just setting the stage for later books. I will always be an Eric & Sookie fan, and in this area, the story doesn't disappoint.

Vintage Sookie!

Within the first few minutes of listening, I was completely re-immersed into the world of Bon Temps and all my old friends there! It was as if I had been out of touch for a while and dropped by to catch up all the news. Everyone has changed somewhat in the aftermath of the fairy war. Sookie, although still trying hard to be the southern lady her grandmother raised her to be, has hardened and is not an innocent as she was before. Jason has matured and is starting to actually behave like an adult. Eric has given into his emotional attachment to Sookie and you can see her influence on him when he has to deal with his maker. Although the plot itself was pretty typical for the Southern Vampire Series, it was very interesting and entertaining. Some loose threads were tied up and some seeds for future stories were planted. The hours of the book just flew by and I was sad to leave Bon Temps again when it came to the end. True Sookie Stackhouse fans will not be disappointed in this book. TrueBlood fans may not appreciate it as much. Finally, I have to say that Johanna Parker's narration is fabulous. She truly brings Sookie to life. As much as I love Anna Pacquin in True Blood, she just doesn't portray the nuances of Sookie's personality as well as Ms. Parker.

It was good, but on the light side

It was good, but on the light side. I have been spoiled with some of the darker Sookie books. Still this is a great story. I will listen to it at least 3 times.

What can I say

Charlaine Harris is such a great writer. She has created such a interesting world and wonderful and characters. DITF gives you answers to a lot of questions that were unanswered in previous books. You will laugh out loud and love the story. Johanna Parker makes Sookie and the other characters come alive.

Good book, but too short.

I purchased this book on sale via an audible special purchase and I'm glad I did or I would not be very happy. Don't get me wrong-It was a good book with some questions answered in the series, but it was very short and would not have been worth the money of a typical book. Mrs. Harris short changed her fans on this one.

can't wait for the next one

I eagerly anticipated this book! I love the series and Johanna Parker is so Sookie! I hope they never change narrators like they do with some series. Of course, I devoured the book so fast I ended up listening a second time to catch the little things you pick up on the second time around. I will watch True Blood in the meantime and see what Alan Ball does to my favorite series. I can only hope Charlaine Harris continues to write as well for the next installments, how ever many that may be. Long series of books tend to drift downhill. Example: the Anita Blake series. After book 11, it seems nobody has anything nice to say.

liked it

I really enjoyed this book. There may have been a little less action in it than some of the other books but it was nice to see good things happen to a few a of the characters. If you like the rest of the series then this is a must read.
