Great but less action

Sookie is a different person now because of what she has been through. And she seems to be as powerful at the Supes who gravitate towards her. She is still very loving and is capable of protecting those she loves. I would not want to be on her bad side. As for the suitor issue, some will be delighted. The next book will be just as anticipated as this one. Johanna Parker is great as always. That voice is Sookie to me.

Yay we're back on track.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. Well if she's read the previous books of course. That would be a little odd to start there.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I'm beginning to love Eric more and more, but I also really appreciated Claude more in this book than in any other. You get to see his compassionate side here.

Have you listened to any of Johanna Parker’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've only listened to a few other Harris books by her, but they are all good. She is consistent with her performances.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

It's got a bite!

Any additional comments?

I love the Sookie Stackhouse series.

Loved it!

Charlaine is truly gifted to keep me enthralled with this series, now 10 books deep. I really liked the route she took with this one. Bringing it back to the theme of family was really refreshing. I thought book # 9 was a little disappointing. This one more than makes up for it. Tons of action, but also plenty of the deeper, character building moments to round it out.
And the narrator does a GREAT Sookie Stackhouse voice.

A 10

I really enjoyed the story. I am sorry I finished it in 2 days because book 11 does not even have a release date!

What did you love best about Dead In the Family?

The narrator's voice captured Sookie Stackhouse perfectly. This is a great series and I've read some it and listened to some of it. I actually think I'll listen to the rest of the series because it's just such a good listen. I've already bought the next one.

What other book might you compare Dead In the Family to and why?

My mind's a blank on this question

What does Johanna Parker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She takes a good book and makes it excellent. She doesn't over-due the southern voice, she keeps it soft and knows how to nuance the words.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

"Moved" isn't a word I'd use for this kind of book.

Made my daily commutes fly by

I usually read books by this author but just don't have the time to sit for hours and enjoy a book. This audio book was wonderful and can't wait for the next release by this author...she is one of my favorites.

It was OK

This book is OK I guess it seems like they are going down hill as they go along. There wasn't much that happened in it. I guess I like the ones with more stuff happening.

Apparently it's not only me

Because many things have already been said about this book (with which I mostly agree), I'll simply say this is still a Sookie novel, she's still that silly girl, the story is ok in general, but you have that irky feeling that you're only getting HALF of the book you were supposted to get. Many loose ends, which is unusual for this series.
Well, it's like with Harry Potter movies - why oh why do they have to make a 2-parter? Kerching!
