Okay Plot Annoying Reader

I love this series, but this book was a little thin on plot. There is no real character arc. There are just a series of things going on. There is a slight mystery, but no real tension is built. The reader's accent and inflections are annoying. Sookie's voice winds up being a cross between Cajun and whiney. I'll buy the next one that comes out, but I hope there is more plot and they have a different reader.

Will Sookie ever have a good day?

Who was your favorite character and why?

As always my favorite character was Sookie. She is fun and her homey ideas and good Southern manners help her out in most situations.

Any additional comments?

Another wonderful book by Harris. I know we need it to move the story along but the reader begins to feel really sorry for Sookie. Can that poor girl ever really catch a break?

I Love Sookie Stackhouse!!!

I waited to write a review until I listened to all 12 books. I loved them all. Sookie is a breath of fresh air small town girl who has had problems in the past with romance because she has the gift of reading minds. Imagine going on a date and hearing everything the guy was thinking... Not good. With vampires out of the closet, she finds she can't read vampire minds. Finally she can have true romance. There is also Mystery, Murder, and Mayhem and more supernatural creatures to be revealed!
I loved all the characters and how the story unfolded through all the books. It was bitter sweet that it had to come to an end. I was going to watch True Blood on HBO until friends told me it wasn't nearly as good as the books and had way too much porn!! I will leave the same review for all twelve books. Sookie just wouldn't be Sookie without Johanna Parker, I loved her voice!

Loved this one!

Charlaine Harris never fails to entertain me. Johanna Parker, as always, does a great job narrating. Every book to this series is better than the last and this one did not fail to deliver the shocks & laughs I look forward to. The only complaint I have is that it ended too fast for me, but that is always my complaint. I never want it to end! Is the next one out yet??

so so

I am a big fan of the Sookie books. This one just left so much out & unexplained. Hope the author can do better next time.

Great!

I am in complete agreement with the other reviewers- this book was pleasurably lighter in tone than the two before it, which was a welcome change. I love Sookie and all her crazy problems, but the torture, etc of the last story was hard to handle and I was relieved there wasn't any of that in this book. It was nice to get on solid ground again with Bill, Eric, and especially Jason.

The plot moves along without feeling rushed, and although there is a lot of information, you don't feel burdened by it. However, to understand the story at all, you need to have read (or listened to) all the previous books, and it would help with some of the subtler references to have read the short story collection as well, since there were at least 3 references to plot lines in those.

Fans of Sookie will not be disappointed with this one, which is great news since waiting for the next book gets harder every time!
