Ahhh

Although lighter in intrigue than previous books, I think Sookie and Eric fans needed the break. Johanna Parker does a fabulous job bringing the story to life once again. I am already longing for the next book.

Had high expectations

I'm a huge Sookie fan I have read all of the books! Don't get me wrong this was a great read I just had high expectations for the story line. There could have been a lot more sookie & eric romance in the book I'm over the fairy's and want more romance for sookie and eric. I can't wait for the next books, I read that Charlaine Harris signed on to write 3 more!!!

Sookie is back.

I liked it. It isn't Shakespeare but Harris isn't aiming for it. If you want something more esoteric try Stieg Larsson's Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I own all of these books, mostly the audiobooks. To me Johanna Parker IS Sookie, how could you ask for a better narrator for these books? Even if Eric is getting a little wimpy (what is with that?) at least most of the fairies are gone. After the last book I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue with the series. I mean, a Fairy War? Evil fairies? Laughable. After sitting through that book I kind of felt like I had been tortured right alongside Sookie. This book is better.
Besides, if you're addicted to these books you know you're probably going to bite the bullet and buy it, right? I mean, it's THAT kind of series...

Loving it!!!

I love these stories all my life even when vampire weren't popular. But now they are the new in thing there are so many more books out there. I've been watching the True Blood series and now reading the books. Charlaine Harris is a great author can’t wait to see what comes next from her.

Sookie is back, and better than ever!

I have read all of the "Sookie Stackhouse" books. And I have to say, this is my favorite so far. I really enjoyed her relationship with Eric. But, of course, in the end, I was left wanting even more.

When does the next book come out?! Not soon enough!
GREAT STORY

Wonderful!

I loved every minute of this book, the narrator is absolutely wonderful! I can't imagine anyone else as Sookie Stackhouse now. I had the same thought as some of the other reviewers that not a lot happened in this book, but I liked that. I enjoy reading about Sookie's everyday live probably more than the books that have a lot of action. I thought this one was just perfect, and it is probably my favorite in the Southern Vampire series.

Very Disappinted

I have really enjoyed (rated 4 and 5) all the Sookie books until this one...this book could have been an epilogue to the last one....there is a very thin plot line, no attention to settings, not much happening and no new concepts or surprises...I was very disappointed...a firend said to me after reading the hardback - It was as if the author had hired some one else to write the book....

Baggage-laden

On par with the other books, although not as action-packed as book 9, I could sense that it was getting more and more difficult for the author to provide background information on the characters and events. This is good for those who have not read the previous volumes (and for the sake of selling more copies!) but it gets a bit tedious for those of us who have read (and re-read) the earlier books. Perhaps she should come out with a version for Sookie veterans, and an "expanded" version for novices.

Johanna Parker, of course, was a joy to listen to, as always. I just wish to suggest, let's bone up on the Russian accent, shall we?

To the author's credit, the story ended with no unresolved issues, unlike some works of the same genre that end with cliffhangers, obviously to hook the reader into buying the next book.

Overall, the storytelling and character development were excellent. In spite of the (necessary) tedium, I look forward to book 11, or an interim short story, if one is forthcoming.
