Dead Beat

My favorite Dresden book. Mostly due to the character that causes Ramirez to tell Dresden to call him Carlos. James Marsters is great narrating as usual.

Excellent

Each book just keeps getting better and better ...by far this is been my favorite book in the series. If looking for stand alone favorites, book 2 & 5 are also past favorites.

Jim butcher performed by James marsters - no disappointments here!

Harry Dresden does not fail to continue to make me happy. Great story, great character development, Awesome smart assedness.

I've read in book form a couple times and this is the first time in audible and I find that I enjoy the James Marston audible version better.

Great story, great continuation of series

Not the most amazing writing style, but wonderful characters in a fascinating world. Amazon says I must have 2 more words here.

You've Made It!

You did it, you made it to the first great Dresden Files book. The quality of most Dresden books runs inversely with number of times Harry casts Fuego, and this book has it 0 times, apparently the author got the feedback and made Harry scared of fire.

This is also the first book of the series that had a plot twist I did not see coming.

I wish I could say, start the series here, but you probably wouldn't know what's going on.

Also, because the author belabored the point in the book, I feel obliged to say that the reasoning why people aren't aware of the supernatural is the MOST fictional part of the book, even claiming that most missing persons reports are caused by the super natural world... Anyone knows anything about missing persons knows how ridiculous that sounds.

Still the best in the series!

I have read the whole Dresden series and this is still by far my favorite of the series. I love the series, and honestly like all the books, but this one is so much fun. You got Necromancers, Vampires, Werewolves, Ghouls, Mister, Mouse, Thomas, and many others. The only thing that is missing is Murphy who is on vacation during the events of the book. James Marsters is great in this book and his voices for Thomas, Butters, and Dresden are great and how I would have imagined them. The production value of the audiobook is also in top form, no major pauses, no swallowing, no breathing noises, and crisp audio quality. Highly recommend the book and the audio version.

Perhaps this can be fixed?

A technical issue: a few seconds of the story are seriously garbled at about 2 hours and 28 minutes into the second part. I listened to it a few times, both on my ipod and in itunes. It would be nice to have a corrected replacement. Otherwise, the story is great and the narration is getting better with each book in the series. In the first few books the narrator mispronounced several common words and stumbled a few times, but not enough to be annoying.
