Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Keri Arthur continues her Dark Angels series as half-werewolf, half-aedh Risa Jones races to save the world from descending into ultimate chaos.... Risa has angered several powerful people, and she's starting to feel the pressure from all sides. She also finds herself under the scrutiny of the vampire council, some of whom consider her a monster who should be destroyed. But they offer her a bloody bargain: Take on the lethal head of the council and others will support her. As the search for the keys to hell heats up, Risa realizes that she has no choice. For the sake of the people she loves, she must find the keys - and get rid of Hunter - before the next gate is opened and brings the world closer to all hell breaking loose...

Becoming increasingly uninterested in this series.

I love Keri Arthur and this has been one of my favorite series of hers (second only to Riley Jenson), but I've found myself rather bored with this book. I can't really put my finger on it, but it just didn't grab me like some of the others in the past. For me, this time was just... meh.

I stayed on the edge of my seat through most of it! Each time I thought I knew what was going to happen, am exciting new twist arrived.

Another fantastic listen

Where does Darkness Splintered rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book ranks at the top. Love this series and it takes way too long for the next book to be produced :)

Who was your favorite character and why?

Rissa - she just keeps on taking the hard knocks but does not wallow in her sorrow.

What does Saskia Maarleveld bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narration brings so much more suspense with her voice. The way she changes her voice and keeps the suspense up is awesome

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

At the end when she just picked herself up and dusted off her pants and knew it was not over but did not sit and cry about it.

Any additional comments?

This whole series has been great. I like the fact that the main character is not a whiner. The author keeps her real and does not give her the ability to always win, but to fight and lose a battle or two to make her more real
