BDB Lovers... Give a Listen

Though discovered nearly a year ago, I hesitated starting the series because of negative or mediocre-level reviews. I imagine this book/series is one of those that either the reader relates to or not. If you're a Black Dagger Brotherhood or Midnight Breed fan, this series is a worthy consideration. As a fan of both, I really enjoyed "Immortal Guardians" and wondered why I took so long to give it a listen. No, its not literature but fun reading nevertheless.

Good guys vs. bad guys (immortals vs vamps) are central to the story whilst the humans are in the crossfire. Duvall offers a slight twist to the genre that most paranormal lovers will enjoy. Yes, a love story is entwined into the plot with well described passion between them. Personally, I prefer paranormal novels to have a bit of smut.

Kristen Potter's narration is fairly consistent. Definitely one of my favorite narrators. Enjoyable read!

Would you listen to Darkness Dawns again? Why?

This was a great story... the author has done a great job of keeping you wanting more, when I realize I was on the last chapter, I wanted to start crying, you just don't want it to end... The narrator has also done a great job with the charaters.... I just can't say enough... I hope there are allot more to come, this series promises to be an exciting one...

A Nice Change!

What made the experience of listening to Darkness Dawns the most enjoyable?

It was a nice change from the run of the mill erotic romance. There's an entire fictitious world of vampires (not Twilight Saga) and guardians. The guardians exist to protect humans from the vampires and Roland is such a great character. Having lived alone for hundreds of years, he has shut everyone out and prefers to be alone. He cannot fathom why Sarah shows interest in him. So cute! I was becoming bored with the billionaire seducing the savvy inexperienced entrepreneur bit, so this was a nice change that kept me interested.

What other book might you compare Darkness Dawns to and why?

I would say, if anything, it could be compared to Mortal Instruments, but not as complex...and for adults instead of teens. There was a little romance in Mortal Instruments, but this book contained all those emotional connections female adult readers crave! There are more books in this series, and I will definitely be coming back for more.

Interesting take on vampires

This book was recommended to me by Audible so I decided to give it at try. It's definitely paranormal romance in case you're unclear by the cover art but it's not overdone with sexual encounters and has a solid story line. The female main character is strong and holds her own given the circumstances but doesn't go too far as to be unbelievable. She makes smart rational decisions even in panic induced situations. I like the dynamic between vampires and immortals but would like a little more explanation. I also wish they had explored the secondary story line a bit more. Overall this was a good listen and the voice actor did a decent job at having distinguishing voices.

Unexpected

I very much liked this book. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
