Will he fail in the one thing he thought he was prepared for? Or will he find his redemption?

Juan struggles with Mackenzie's past...a scientist tries to create Eden with an unlikely Eve...and a young girl struggles to keep her sanity at the hands of a monster far worse than the ones gathered outside the walls of her family estate.

It starts strong and goes straight to an odd ...

First thoughts about the cover of Dead: Fortunes & Failures? Zombie dog and a little zombie girl… K. Fighting the urge to back away slowly. Little zombie kiddies are creepy as hell. Either that zombie girl is curled around the zombie dog, or she’s part of the dog. Either way, that’s creepy as hell. My zombie curiosity is peeked, must delve into this story.

This book is several stories on a series of rotating chapters. One of the main characters in one of the stories is Kevin. He is one of the absolutely perfect persons to have with you in a zombie apocalypse. He is strong, resourceful, very smart, and very logical. Without him lots of people probably would have died early in the story. He is a bit of a geek, and that is a good thing. Absolutely one of my favorite characters in this book.

The character I’m rooting for the zombies to get fast is Garrett. He is a vile, cruel, and evil person. If there is anyone that zombies need to off in a horrible fashion, it would be him. He show the lows that some of humanity would sink to without law and order. It’s scary to think about people like him existing, but they do. They wear their masks well. I fear for if something happens and people like him are able to take their mask of humanity off to show their true monstrous natures within.

This story starts from a prior stopping point of this series. It starts strong and goes straight to an odd queasy icky factor that helps bring the story alive. After that it slows down for a bit before it picks back up with a vengeance. The characters are so well written that you get emotionally invested in their lives, and in some cases, their deaths.

I really like the Narrator Andrew McFerrin’s voice. His accents and voices for the characters help draw the listener into the heart of the story. I greatly enjoyed how he helped bring them to life. This book is part of the Dead series by TW Brown. It is thirteen hours and thirty-four minutes long. Warning – Not for those who scare easily. This book is full of zombies, blood, guts, gore, awesome scenes, some horrible people, and a helluva lot of crazy cool stories.

I was left feeling very happy we are not living in an apocalyptic dying world. Dodging the dangers of a zombie scratch and bite would be horrible enough, but dealing with the worst of humanity would suck the most. This book rocks. It keeps you hooked from start till end. Definitely worth getting more of this series.

Once again, a good continuation of the story

Who was your favorite character and why?

I think I like Kevin the best, although Steve is a close second.

What does Andrew McFerrin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He's a great narrator. He changes the voices just enough so that you can tell who's who. There's nothing bad I can say about him.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, of course. I wanted to hurry and get to the next book!

Any additional comments?

The books just keep getting better and better.

Really entertaining!

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character has been Kevin, but Steve is a close second. Aleah, Heather, Teresa, and Dr Zahn are great female characters who show a strong side, to some of the women who are weaker in the books (which would be natural in a catastrophe. Some strong, some not) The two were just average every day guys before the zombpocalypse started but each finds something to step up for and be more than who they were before. I've really enjoyed their development.

Any additional comments?

I'll be honest, if you've made it to book 3, you already know that you're enjoying these books and the stories that are being woven in this world created in horror. The stories get better and better because with each one, the stakes are high, emotions feel real, and you grow to care about a good deal of the characters. Especially the main story lines. This is a great series for a zombie enthusiast.

Yet another solid entry into this series

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This is another great continuation of the zombie apocalypse story. The narrator continues to be FANTASTIC! The series continues to follow the groups from book 2 and still pulls no punches. Definitely a series I will continue.

Steve's loving and protective relationship with the orphan Thalia was touching.

T.W.Brown has created a vivid post apocalyptic world decimated by Zombies.

Enjoyable read

I've enjoyed the series and just bought the next 3. I like the narrator which is important, the book can be fantastic but ruined if the narrator is not good.

Better as a movie plot

This series has been a majority of let downs and plot holes. I understand the writer might think puting in multiple views of the zombie apocolypse but ending every group with a hord can only go so far. "Carful for spoilers" in the 1st book we learn that the zombies can "walk" onto the fallen to get to higher ground
so a mad, drunken guy spearing countless of zombies in one area should have caused a pileup.
2nd if the zombies see heat then what do zombies with no eyes do?
3rd there are to many dous ex machina saves come out of the blue ( oh we had a big a** turret strapped to this jeep that we just hid in the woods)
And when the hord finaly takes over its because the writer can't think of how to continue their survival.
If you want a better zombie story i recommend " rot and ruin"
If you want a better zombie series i recommend "adrians undead diaries" it is a much better writen book all around.
