Publisher's summary

Now an original series starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers and listeners around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters.

The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

The seals of Shayol Ghul are weak now, and the Dark One reaches out. The Shadow is rising to cover humankind.

In Tar Valon, Min sees portents of hideous doom. Will the White Tower itself be broken?

In the Two Rivers, the Whitecloaks ride in pursuit of a man with golden eyes, and in pursuit of the Dragon Reborn.

In Cantorin, among the Sea Folk, High Lady Suroth plans the return of the Seanchan armies to the mainland.

In the Stone of Tear, the Lord Dragon considers his next move. It will be something no one expects, not the Black Ajah, not Tairen nobles, not Aes Sedai, not Egwene or Elayne or Nynaeve.

Against the Shadow rising stands the Dragon Reborn....

Featured Article: The top 100 series of all time

The feeling of discovering that your favorite new listen is actually the start of a series is euphoric. That you can immediately hit play and re-enter a beloved new world, or love story, or era from history is a gift to the devoted listener. But how to pick just 100 of these unique and immersive listening journeys? We defined a series as having a minimum of three books, and—after some debate—we decided the titles had to be anchored in fiction. From YA to horror to historical fiction, from fresh voices to seminal tales, hours of discovery await.

You can almost feel the end coming

Unfortunately, this entry in the Wheel of Time series feels more like a setup for book 11 with filler and moving characters into the right positions, rather than plot moving action. I’m curious to pick up book 11 soon as this is the last by Robert Jordan before Brandon Sanderson finishes out the final three books in the series.

A solid book but not the equal of Winters Heart

This book was good. It has a lot of Matt in it which who is among my favorite characters. I think it feels like it ends randomly though. Without a climax.

Excellent listen

Was a joy to listen to this book. Amazing story and the readers really bring each character to life.

Where was the wow factor at the end?

In these books I have come to realize, that in the end he really brings it for the story. This one however, was flat at the end. Hopefully the next book will be crazy exciting the whole way through.

Chapters on Egwene and Elayne drag on.

Chapters on Egwene drag on and should have been condensed. Her character gets harder to believe with each book. More and more annoying and worth skipping.

Not my favorite

This book took me longer than the others to finish on my second trip through the series. But, like all of them, it is important and has its moments.

Meh

So far the slowest book in the series, practically nothing happens and it seems to dither

Good but not great

This is always one of the harder books in the series for me to get through. I always look forward to Matt's parts, but the rest is slow compared to the rest of the series. Even the ending isn't amazing, as it is in the other books. You can't skip this one, but be prepared for a slower story.

The narrators are fabulous, as always!

it was a crossroads of sorts

Reading and Kramer knock another out of the park. This sequel to Winters Heart wins in my opinion. I would consider this book the closing of a long middle act, and the beginning of the final act. The nuances and details in previous books are revisited by even more nuance and detail. The dead walk these crossroads that all lead to Tarmon Gaidon.
